First it was 300,000; by the end of the day it was 500,000; by the following morning that figure had risen to 1m; now it appears to be spoken about in terms of 'millions'.
What am I?
The answer? The number who turned out to see the RS bring home the European Cup last year.
The first of these was the official Police figure (and they should know more than any other body). The second was a media estimate. The third was Uncle Joe's ridiculous pronouncement, and it was rapidly taken on board by the RS-loving media and became the nationally accepted best estimate, quoted now as a fact. And now, in the Daily Mail this morning, the figure that day is quoted as having been "millions".
But worse still, it appears that celebrations across the city centre are being planned to 'celebrate' the RS winning the league. FFS. Why? And can we fit what would undoubtedly afterwards be estimated as there having been 10m having been being in attendance in the city centre anyway
when even the half million media estimate for last year is a logistical impossibility.
