Ronaldo for Portugal has had 1 red card in 226 appearances slightly less out of character, yet his three match ban is rescinded to one, dependent on future conduct.

I'd appeal it to point out this inequality.

Not really - any hand-to-the-face is usually a red. JameZ got someone from Newcastle sent off for the most minimal contract, Doucoure was sent off like an idiot for doing the same to Kane. The anomaly is that it's between teammates, but most similar accidents result in a red (if you're not a SkY SiX TeAm).

Zero chance it would be overturned because there is clear contact and the letter of the law was applied. The referee could and should have used discretion and given a yellow. But as the red was given there are no grounds for appeal

50/50 on appealing. The wider media coverage seems to back a "it was harsh" narrative. But when does sense and fairness come into things with the powers that be? They'll be checking the rule book to aee if they could dock us points

I don't think we should appeal, as it was not a clear and obvious error. The ref applied his interpretation of the rules, which I strongly disagree with. It was very strange how quick he made the decision, but there is still no point in appealing.

Yes, they do, and I don't agree with it. They literally showed the rule about 3/4 times on screen, on Monday night. The judgement is the refs view of the force.

There have also been many examples of where a player has raised his arm to a player face and not been sent off, it is subjective. What is the situation, what is the force. By raising your arms you are making the ref make a decision, sometimes they will send you off, sometimes they will have a chat and/or yellow. I believe Monday was a time for a quick chat.
