Is that kiss goodbye to Moyes then? Who would you want if so?

Think maybe Moyes would be a better fit for Arsenal, given their shaky foundations and aim at business-run-organization? Has done about the same as Wenger on a lesser budget with a squad, at least based on reputation, very much inferior.

What you say is entirely possible but what is it exactly you think will put moyes at the top of list they could compile with some of the most talented experienced mangers out there to replace the most succesful British manager of all time ? Moyes has never won a trophy (although we did make a final once), he's zero champions league experience , his European experience is 'limited ' with a few pretty appalling results in there as well & he's no real experience of shopping at the top level of the transfer market. We are a team that regularly competes around and about the top 8 which is impressive given our structure and resources but united I'd think have a whole different set of criteria

The people who run Utd are smart. They´ll look at what Moyes has been able to do pound for pound with the limited resources he´s had at Everton. They also know he has over ten years of premier league experience and that it won´t take him long to figure out how to manage CL double headers.

But most importantly, he´ll have Sir Alex blessing. Moyes is the man Sir Alex want´s to succeed him (IMHO).

I´m one of those people who think Moyes is the one single thing separating us from the Villas and the Wigans.

When I was young, free, single and had too much money (hard to believe considering my life now!) I used to buy lots of LPs. I always had a shopping list, but reached saturation point. I simply HAD to buy an album, because that's what I did. So I bought albums that were 'popular' because I had money to burn.

I ended up buying sh*te because it was 'burning a hole in my pocket'. As I got older I realised that, just because you have money, it doen't mean that you HAVE to spend it right away.

There's a line in a song "If it's something I want - then it's something I need - I wasn't built for comfort I was built for speed".

Then you have Brendan Rodgers who feels he HAS to spend money RIGHT AWAY. The same with his predecessors. Haven't they bought some mediocrity for top whack prices over the years!

Moyes is frugal and Moyes is wise. Clearly we did have funds this window - AND we have held on to our assets for the remainder of this season.

We are fifth and entertain Villa on Saturday. If we had beaten Chelsea (and goodness knows we could have easily) we would be third.

I know we Evertonians are by nature a bit dour, but I think it's about time we showed Moyes some lurve. Even when we lose (which isn't often).

The manager sets the tone for the club. Not many want to leave, do they? One who did couldn't wait to come back and got quite tearful at the prospect of not being able to (Pienaar).

I can spit the dummy about Moyes as much as the next person, but I know I am talking sh*te, even when I am doing it. :)

Let's win the FA Cup - get high in the League and get investors in! Let's create an Everton feelgood factor.

Make the Old Lady shake. Too often I watch on tv and the ground is so quiet (forgive me, I live 300+ miles away and up to my eyeballs in debt). :)

I like Moyes a lot, but i honestly think he is at a cross road now.

Option 1 - Stay with Everton and take the cash.

Option 2 - Try his luck abroad to win trophies

It's all about what Moyes wants from his career, security and money or does he have the ambition to win trophies.

Interesting point mate, highly rated by who though , Pundits ? Absolutely and other managers seem to highly rate him to. When the spurs & Chelsea jobs came up he was nowhere near their shortlists & I'd expect the same if their current managers moved on. I actually think his best chance (i think moyes may believe the same) of making a short list would be if wenger left but making a short list and getting a job are two different things. If it wasn't Liverpool I think that that job would have been a good fit for him , if that makes sense ? Otherwise though I'm not sure where he can go.

Moomin makes a good point that i'd forgotton about.

He could go abroad to further his own ambitions I suppose.

I was convinced that the Fer deal was going to happen in some form yesterday and that for me is the only disappointment.
I never for one second expected to sign a player like Negredo as Sevilla were only using the last day of the window to sell at an inflated price.

How David Moyes feels now ?
It depends on what actually happened during the window.
Was he happy about the Fer deal falling through or more optimistcally being postponed ?
Were there other targets and why did we not sign them, was it lack of funds or the players not being sold by their clubs at this time ?
Of the players that were sold to other clubs, who would you like to have brought to Everton ?

Going abroad to win a trophy may lead to being a big fish in a tiny pond winning a cup where the opposition is feeble at best.

If Moyes is really into 'Pyrrhic Victories' then fair enough, but I doubt very much that he is.

I was told December 2011 he was sharing a post game drink with another manager and said just that about his future.

It makes perfect sense to go abroad as he can only improve his cv whilst even a failure wouldn't really effect his reputation over here but success could be massive for him. However blokes are always taking about leaving their job , their wives or to travel but how many actually go ? Those massive wages are going to be tough to walk away from

More on this...

Would a foreign (German maybe) club be bothered paying Moyes' rather huge wage?

Moyes has a major decision to make. Sign a new contract with us, get paid a fortune & have one of the safest seats in football management, or, decide he needs a change, probably take a wage cut & move to somewhere else that can provide him with a fresh challenge & some cash to work with.

It's a tough call & one that could still go either way imo. It'll ultimately come down to who's interested in taking him.

I reckon they could get close to it, not beat it maybe. Bundesliga is growing in reputation, i have no idea if he would go but he must be thinking "This is as far as i can take Everton " his stock is at a high, i cant honestly see him improving Everton without investment.

A few blues been saying this already. I thought the board would back him this window. There was a big chance now to push on with 4th up for grabs. Can't say I'm not disappointed

You've got that completely the wrong way round.

If Moyes wanted to spend we'd have spent. He controls the club.

If he hasn't spent it's more likely he knows he's off and wants to be able to say to the club to keep that kitty for the new man. Moyes has integrity.
