Is North America now the biggest hotbed for football talent after Europe?

In all seriousness, with the likes of David and Davies, the level of Canadian men's soccer is getting better, but we're light years from the majority of the footballing world.

I like the title, the idea that Europe is top of the footballing talent pyramid from this and then the clumsy argument in the text which tries to prove North America is now better at producing talent than South America.

There's more top class Brazilians in the North West of England than there are North Americans in the elite European leagues.

There's no mention of Africa or Asia. None of Oceania which may well be true. And I wouldn't be surprised if Antarctica had a few penguins with better ability too.

TLDR: No.

Not now but there's some truth there as a trend. Mexico also produce really good players but they don't tend to leave Mexico and improve.

South American federations are basket cases and its affected youth development. Look at Brazil and Argentina's squads and most of the best players are 30 odd. Where is the major talent coming through? Cavani and Suarez still Uruguay's best players well over 30. Chile have had the same team for 10 years.

Colombia at least have gone for youth in this competition.

But did you actually read the post? If we look at the U23 talent from USA/Canada and compare it with the South American talent, it's fair to say that North American youth talent as of 2021 is actually better on paper? South America isn't producing talent like it once did. German teams now buy a lot of American/Canadian talent.

How are they faring against each other in youth tournaments?

I'd imagine at least Brazil are still doing better at youth level than US and certainly Canada. Theres definitely huge issues with development in South America in the modern era.

Until NA are going further than the SA teams in u17 and u20 World Cups etc and it then translates to senior World Cups then it's not a power shift.

FCD has done very well developing players, but we're talking 1 out of 20 MLS clubs in a broken professional system built on top of a broken youth development system. Until every MLS club has 2-3 Clint Dempsey's trying to break into the first team sheet, then

It was only 3 years ago we had the nadir of US not qualifying for the World Cup over Panama and the system was broken

Well, seeing as Canada is in North America, then yes. But no one really identifies themselves as being from a continent instead of a nation. I presume you're from somewhere Europe, likely England, but I would also presume you don't call yourself European.

Exactly, I'm English, from England.

You're Canadian, from Canada.
