Is it time for Technology?

This quote here 'You won;t get an angry snarly Goodison again with technology making sure every decision is correct ' implies that you think removing incorrect decisions from the game will make it worse, therefore you're in favour of them.

Well implying something and saying something are two very different things. Of course I want better decisions.

Man Utd at home in 2009, the Phil Neville tackle turned our season and a drab Goodison came to life after than, it was the siege mentality it woke everyone up, got turned up a notch.

When everything gets perfected, that won't happen. Every decision will be right, having an injustice against us sometimes goes heavily in our favour.

Would we? Maybe technology over the course of the 97/98 season may of reversed a wrong decision against earlier in the season which stopped us picking up 3 points? If and buts i know but its not as clear cut as you say it is, and even if its true ana dwe would of been relegated still; doesn't change the fact that its better to get more decisions right than it is wrong.

Although my point was more about that fact we could still get screwed with a dodgy decision that causes the crowd to get angry.

Bolton scored a 'goal' that was over the line, which would of kept them up at our expense in 98, so yes we would of been.

Firstly i really don't see how you can be saying that with goal line technology, even contentious decision technology that hard but fair tackles on nancy boys won;t get the Goodison crowd fired up? As well as believing that with the technology in place that decisions aren't still going to go against the home team to piss the fans of, of course they will.

Suarez dives in the area, ref isn't sure so goes to video ref, replay shows minimal contact that just counts as a foul so the video ref gives it. You honestly reckon that their won't be uproar at Goodison if that happens?

And yes i know about the Bolton "goal", i was saying that if technology had been in place throughout the whole of that season there may of been decisions in both ours and there games that were different meaning that we could of been safe way before that "goal". Or we could of beeen down well before it, either way its hypothetical of course but not as clear cut as we WOULD of been relegated in 98 with technology.

Look i've said what I have to say, only time will tell if i'm proved right or wrong. As I say football will embrace it short term, long term there will be negative effects for all to see.

Wish I could forget our 98 season it was so ****e but do remember we were consistently murdered by refs that year. If technology had been fully in, there would have been no last day worries....

Can't believe Blues that don't want it in, referees are either subconsciously swayed by certain clubs or corrupt

Why would the LEAST resistant sport in the entire world to change all of a sudden change more than other sports which have had already had replay for around 15 years already? Other sports have had it for ages and they don't look at every last decision. There are other sports which adjust their rules literally every single year which don't use replay as much as people fear -- why would the luddites in charge of football suddenly change more than sports which actually embrace change? Slippery slope doesn't hold water for me. I'd love to see lots of rule changes (most of which would make the game far more exciting) but despite this small change sadly I think things will stay stagnating. If not being able to complain about bad refs is going to ruin the game for you then maybe you don't like football very much?

I NEVER SAID NOT BEING ABLE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT REFS WOULD RUIN FOOTBALL READ MY POSTS CAREFULLY AND YOU WILL SEE THE POINTS I MADE AND WHY I HAVE RESERVATIONS ABOUT GLT.

Is it a full moon tonight?

Steady on mate ... no need to cap me. If you read this thread carefully you'll see someone else did (or words to that effect) -- I never said I was addressing just you in my post. Regardless, that was a small aside in my post. The main point is that football is pretty much the least progressive sport in the world (see getting replays over a decade later than most other sports) so the chances of your (and others) fears being realized are pretty much zero.

Premier League to introduce goal-line technology next season

Goal-line technology will be introduced in the Premier League next season.
The technology was successfully trialled by Fifa at the 2012 Club World Cup and the Premier League says it is in advanced talks with two providers, Hawkeye and GoalRef.

"We're working on the basis of having goal-line technology in place for the start of the season," said Premier League spokesman Dan Johnson.

"All clubs will have to have the system, including those promoted."

Hawkeye and GoalRef were both used at last year's Club World Cup.

League chiefs say they will choose a system based on cost and how easy the system is to implement and use.
Johnson added that Premier League clubs would not be able to opt out of using goal-line technology but insisted the system would not be too expensive for the 20 teams.

Fifa has already said it plans to use the technology at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

A meeting of the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the game's law-making body, in Edinburgh on Saturday will be told the first use of the technology was a resounding success.

That report will be the final green light needed for the systems to be used in professional leagues.

Looks like it nearly is.

has this page only just popped up? because i was on the website, clicked back to sport and it just appeared out of nowhere, with a date stamp on 10.00pm :s

bout time they introduced it, doubt there's many who could argue it won't benefit the game (with the exception of the idiots who thought the ref would have to blow their whistle to halt play and have a look at it).

The main problem is still the need for better training for officials, a lot still don't understand how the game works and base their decisions purely on the rules rather than footballing logic which they don't have. Ah well, i'm sure FIFA will rectify it in 2037.

By the way, how do they determine it a success at the World Club Cup, was there any debateable goals which the technology helped them make a decision for? i didn't hear anything. Think the same happened with the extra official behind the goal where they didn't have one decision to make, yet it was branded a success :s
