Interesting $$$ audit of professional sports teams.

Dortmund 70th in that list paying half the wages Bayern do and much less than their arch rivals Schalke. What a job Klopp has done there winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles. In fact, there's only 6 Bundesliga teams in the top 100 there and most at the lower end of that hundred. That'll all change soon though when the improved tv revenue deal they cut trickles down to the players. There'll be an exodus from other leagues into German footy in the coming years...hopefully they take some of the overpaid tripe from the PL

I noticed the German numbers too... personal opinion after the EPL, the Bundesliga is my fav league to watch. The competition each year is more exciting than watching ManU vs XXX.

Does Everton even have a german player on the roster?

Nein.

I doubt that Fellaini is on 90k a week.

SunTanBob lies for kicks.

Fair enough.

Either he has lied or it's true. The friend who told me this isn't the kind for rumour mongering.

I don't see £90k being that outrageous though honestly. He's the most important player to our team and would fetch the highest price tag if he was to leave.

He also said Fellaini's father is the worst person to ever be involved with Everton. (Which i laughed at for obvious reasons)

He has agreed a five year deal worth almost £20million over the course of the contract, and more importantly, by turning his back on an almost immediate opportunity to join a top European club, has offered a real comment on Everton's future prospects.

20m over 5 Years 4m a Year = 76k a week.

That would seem correct initially, however '5 year deals' don't actually run for 5 years, they usually run until the end of the fifth season. Because he signed in November the contract runs until the Summer of 2016.

20m / 241 weeks = £83k a week (plus bonuses)

241 weeks would be the 30th of June, which is when player contracts expire as far as i'm aware.

This seems to make a lot of sense. Cheers to you and Goat though, both with quality information.

TBH i only realised about the whole '5 year deals not actually 5 years' thing when we were talking about Rooney coming back the other day.

In that manner though they do end up playing 5 season with the club correct? Its just not the full calendar 5 years right?
