Interesting article about Kirkby

As well meaning as David Conn is in that article he really doesn't grasp the nettle: the move isn't about generating £6M pa for Everton (with full houses), it's about the sitting directors selling the club on at a profit sometime in the near future. That, really, given Conn's own clearly stated view that he's baffled by the move on finacial lines, was the only conclusion to come to. Of course, that entails pointing fingers at celebrity chairman...something Conn wouldn't want to get into.

6 million? That's a good income.
You cant seriously think that a 6 million increase is a good profit after building a new stadium. Like the article says, Arsenals turnover doubled after building the Emirates. Yes I know that they are a bigger club and its a bigger stadium etc, but I would still expect us to take more than 6 million a season. Bigger capacity, more boxes, tours etc should all increase the income by more than 6 million surely. Add to that the ticket prices would go up. This just tells me that the stadium plan for Kirkby is not anything near what the club have made it out to be.

Of course you can prove that cant you dennis?..........Oh wait you cant:lol::lol:

no i can't prove it, but i can read :lol:

& i've never read anything about kenwright putting the club up for sale, that's why i said that may be another difference not mentioned in the original post.

you ought to try this reading lark hb, that way you can respond to what people have actually wriitten :lol:

this bit confuses me....

"In their recently published accounts, to May 2008, Everton showed a small profit of £26,000, following a £9.4m loss the previous year. Turnover, in the first season of the Premier League's £2.7bn TV deal, and with David Moyes' side having finished fifth, increased to £75.65m. Not bad, and all at Goodison, but Everton still feel strapped trying to keep up with the so-called big four; their borrowings and bank overdraft increased £10m to £40m, and total creditors were up from £66m to £84m."

our debt is 84 million , me made a profit of £26,000 but our overdraft increased 30 million.

taking into account the overdraft increas does that mean we infact made a 30 million loss ?

then with the debt going up 18 million added to it = £48 million loss ?

im puzzled !!!

TBH I am getting a bit like Sharpy and getting fed up with the whole lot. I am also now tending to feel buggar it, stay at GP and look again around the city.

i obviously don't move in the same circles as you hb, although i am aware bk has been looking for investment in the club 24/7 for many years, i didn't know he was looking for a buyer. in fact i was under the impression that the kirkby proposal included a comment along the lines of there being no anticipated change of ownership during the course of that project.

if i may also roll my reply to leonbil into this post as well, i'd also have to say that i would have no idea when or whether there have been offers for the club, either good or not so good. sadly i'm not in the loop for that information either.

So in short you dont know either way....cheers for clarifying it dennis

Only going by what Bk said at the EGM/AGM. Until i hear different i will take his word for it

i thought bk re-affirmed his search for new investment at the egm, i didn't realise he'd stated that he was looking to sell, which as i commented earlier seems to run contrary to the information relating to the proposal to move to kirkby. but like you, i'd certainly take bk at his word.
