Everton's squad is absolutely brilliant when you think about it. Bainesy, Pienaar and Cleverly all to come back to a ridiculously competitive starting 11.

John Stones is in line to return against Manchester United this weekend. The defender missed the games against West Brom and Liverpool as well as England’s games during the international break. But he could be back to face the team against whom he scored his maiden Everton goal last term. Martinez said: “I think he should be ready. Remember that John has been having a lot of quality work at Finch Farm and it will be a matter of just getting that match fitness. “We have still got very three important days ahead of that fixture in terms of preparation so we’ll get a better idea on Friday of where John is. “I would say medically he is ready now. He’s been joining the group and from a medical point of view I don’t think there is a concern or worry.”

Seamus Coleman is also set to return after featuring for Ireland on Sunday, while longer-term absentees Leighton Baines (ankle), Tom Cleverley (leg) and Steven Pienaar (hamstring) are pencilled in to return over the next couple of weeks after stepping up their recoveries. Martinez explained: "We are taking it step by step, but to see Tom and Leighton joining the group, that [means] they are at the final stage of any recovery from injury. "I expect them to be available, with Steven Pienaar, over the next two or three weeks. Before the next international break, I am very much looking forward to having all these players back and all these players feeling like footballers again.

Tony Hibbert is doing really well as well and I expect a very quick recovery and Mo Besic is very similar to Tony. “So I expect over the next two or three weeks to get probably most of the players back and that’s something that we’ve been looking forward to having because the different possibilities with the different players in this squad is very exciting.”

Whachoo talking 'bout Willis ?

We've got a seriously deep squad to choose from when we've got no injuries. Stones, Coleman etc coming back in the coming days/weeks means huge competition for places. We've quietly built the best squad we've ever had by miles while many were saying we were "on the way down".

Thank God we showed a bit of wit, backed the manager and didn't bottle it and sack him last season.

Bryan Oviedo will have a scan on his hamstring later today. The Everton full-back lasted just 25 minutes of Sunday’s game at home to Sunderland before having to be replaced. The 25-year-old, who has had rotten luck with injuries since joining the Blues, was making his first Premier League start since the end of August.

Tom Cleverley, meanwhile, will train with the Everton squad today after being left out of the squad to face Sunderland at the weekend. Cleverley recently made his return from ankle ligament damage by playing for Everton under-21s and was named in the squad to face Arsenal last month. But Roberto Martinez says the England international requires more time on the training ground before he is fit enough to play in the Premier League again.

Leighton Baines, Mo Besic and Tony Hibbert were also ready to train with the first team squad today.

Galloway, Mori and Browning deserve immense credit for their performances lately, If you would of told me that Jags, stones, coleman and baines were going to be injured and we would cope relatively fine, I would of requested a ban from the mods for your crazy behaviour. There is also a added bonus that we don't need to rush back cleverly and baines because of the job the squad players have done. If Martinez and his team can get a few more bargains then our squad would seem like injuries don't matter, how many years has it been since we could say that ?!

That's a big claim right there.

Roberto Martinez expects to be without Bryan Oviedo for a period of "two to three weeks".

The Everton boss also confirmed Leighton Baines, Muhamed Besic and Tom Cleverley are all closing in on their own respective comebacks, with Tony Hibbert and Steven Pienaar also eyeing full fitness in November.

With regards to Baines, Martinez disclosed he plans to field the left-back in a behind-closed-doors friendly during the international break in a bid to boost the England man's sharpness following ankle surgery.

Costa Rican Oviedo was withdrawn against Sunderland with a hamstring complaint last Sunday and had a scan on Tuesday afternoon. And, updating on the situation at his press conference on Thursday morning, Martinez revealed the 25-year-old could return later this month.

"Leighton Baines, Mo Besic and Tom Cleverley have been training with normality with the first-team squad," said the Toffees chief. "That’s a real positive boost. It’s making sure we measure that well and don’t rush them back into action. "With those three we’ll get a bit more information over the next few days. I don’t think Leighton will be available for the weekend - it’s a case of managing his match fitness more than anything else. Medically, he’s in a great condition.

"Bryan Oviedo picked up a hamstring problem that may keep him out of action for two to three weeks, but it’s nothing too serious. We hope that he can come back for the Aston Villa game. If not, the Bournemouth game.

"Steven Pienaar is working well as well but is not available for the weekend. Hibbo has had an injection just to take some pain away, but in the last three weeks he has been working with the first team, so I would expect him to be available after the international break."

With the likes of Baines and Cleverley coming back in we're going to have strength in depth again. All we need now is an injury for Osman and we'll be looking really good.

'training with normality'

i wonder how martinez learnt english exactly?

its great that he says he doesnt think baines is ready for the weekend, must be really close...
