Initial 10, then reduced to 6 + 2 Point Deductions

All you need to know about the PL this. It sets the groundwork for a city fine too

Don’t ever let us forget the difference in these cases is the PLs appetite. They properly went for us…..even rejecting our mitigation, that the loss of our main sponsor was a significant factor in our breach. They said we should have “foreseen” a global conflict…..that’s still ongoing

It was a mockery to begin with and open up the wider question of us getting shafted again. No sporting sanction on Chelsea for literally signing better players than they should have, taking points of teams, relegating them, denying them championships etc

Yet we’ve got clubs lining up to sue us? I hope Everton’s lawyers are watching very carefully and actually do something

The game has utterly gone! The press wont pick this up, the tv wont. It is an absolute disgrace and further proves that our punishment was a one off punishment to show the world they have teeth. The politicians who were looking at setting up an independent arbitrator to police the Prem should take this as the final piece of evidence that it is essential, but they wont. Bad day this, City will get the same, trivial fine, token punishment that will be suspended :(
This is mirroring exactly what's happening in society today...the ones who have vs the one who have not. No sense of justice, just the interest of the most powerful who can bullied the others into submission. Sad state of affair

Exactly it's an absolute disgrace how we always get pissed on and the Sky 6 get away with murder
We take it, you see.

The biggest crime of our season of deductions was committed not by the Premier League - who couldn't wait to predate on us - but by Moshiri and Kenwright who had run the club into the ground and then gone AWOL by the time this happened. We were sitting ducks, left leaderless when under attack.

I doubt they'd try the same trick with the Friedkins in situ.

But benifit kind, they attained a sporting advantage through the benifit or illegal activity which generated revenue - without which calls their compliance into question. Do they win half the trophies and as such financial benifit to comply with PSR without the players is question…even just Hazard.

“Everton’s witnesses accepted that it had to buy players in order to remain competitive on the pitch. That, it seems to us, tacitly accepts that the trading in Financial Year 23 did provide a sporting advantage which, had Everton complied with the PSR, it would not have obtained.”

In the context of Chelsea, they're clearly seeing to deduct points based on any PSR defaults rather than sporting advantages.

They don't see concealing payments as gaining sporting advantage. Hence the fine.

City will have a field day.

But I will also mention this pearler on repeat - "The commission argued that financial fines alone are insufficient for clubs with wealthy owners, as such owners can easily cover losses, rendering monetary penalties ineffective at enforcing compliance."

according to chat gbt the sanction chelsea got today can't be compared to swindon's or luton's

those rulings came from the English Football League in earlier regulatory eras, when sporting sanctions were applied more aggressively for financial breaches.

One major mitigating factor often mentioned in modern rulings:

  • The club self-reported the issues after a change of ownership.

In Chelsea’s case, the breaches were linked to the period when the club was owned by Roman Abramovich, while the investigation cooperation came from the current ownership group.
