Anyone got any particular or peculiar recommendations?

Bartholomeus restaurant if you want somewhere nice. For what it is it's well worth the money compared to similar restaurants in London

I actually prefer Ghent as it has more life and character. Either way there's silly quality booze aplenty to shuffle out.

Ghent is much much nicer.

Think of a Belgium version of York, but bigger, with one more cathedral, more bars than you can possibly visit and some of the soundest people I`ve ever come across.

It`s about 45 mins away on the train.
