2025/26 Iliman Ndiaye

Love him but he has two major flaws: doesn't get his head up; turns over possession.

His ability to move the team upfield, defensive work and occasional piece of sublime skill make up for it, but I don't think he's the complete player we thought he might be.

Just a strange choice of finish at the end, a lofty curly ball at the middle of the goal. Had to be hit hard and low surely to see if the keeper could react quick enough or spill it towards another player. Don’t always have to finesse them into the top corner.

His magical touches and dribbling in tight spaces does make you forget that he’s not especially productive.

Obviously still a gem of a player, but decision making in front of goal and especially when on a break with supporting teammates has been very poor the last few months.

Coinciding with Grealish getting injured and shifting him back to the left

Playing off the right with a creative outlet on the other flank was the best we’ve seen from him - he could just focus on more on getting into the box and on the end of chances and was only dribbling when it was necessary
It also helped that we didn't just have one focal point. Without Grealish our only creative and good player from out wide is Ndiaye. We offer little to nothing threatening from RW, RB and LB so it's all on Ndiaye and other teams know it.

Some right plonkers on here with regards to Illy. Some just like to dig out talented players.
I await the abuse from the regular abusers. ;)
Blaming him for everything is going too far. But he’s simultaneously our most talented player whilst also fluffing lots of lines with chances and final balls. Some of them easily within his capability.

I do feel he’d much rather score a goal than get an assist. Which is fine, but you absolutely have to score more of your chances to get away with that long term.

Id hazard a guess that his ball retention for a winger is probably one of the highest in the league for that position. Hes very hard to get the ball off and usually finds a blue shirt.

Saying a major flaw of his is turning over possession is just dead wrong.

Feel like he's been crap but also is just getting doubled up on alot with no help because of the lack of overlapping fullbacks.

But once he dribbles past the players hes got zero end product lately. He does the hard part then he just keeps hold of the ball for way too long.

On the bright side hes not getting sold in the summer because i cant see anyone coming in for him for the money wed want with the way hes been playing. So hopefully we'll get to see what hes like next summer with a attacking fullback behind him

distracted by agents and big club rumors sadly
Why you making that up?

He’s looked tired and never gets a break because the drop in quality if we don’t play him every game is crazy but he’s still constantly running and even presses well and tracks back - he’s looked off form and a bit tired where you getting him being distracted from?

And anyway, with three games to go if he wanted to leave and thought big clubs were in for him surely he’d want to play well

I know he has been crap for us without an overlapping full back. Don't know why we wasted all that money on him.
