At least we won.Does this make Scotland's result seem better?
There is nothing like a bold statement to launch a new era and this was certainly nothing like one. Rarely can a victory have been so unconvincing as this, the Rep of Ireland’s limitations were brought sharply back into focus against Gibraltar.
Ranked in the 190's out of 211, finding weaker opposition is genuinely difficult, this was meant to be a nice easy start for Mick, but instead they turned in an absolutely abject performance against the group's supposed whipping boys, the weakest team in their group, although perhaps now Ireland might dispute that with them.
A supposedly simple opening for Mick McCarthy, in his second spell as manager, had turned into a far tougher examination, a pitiful display.
Scotland vs Rep of Ireland would be some contest...
Two teams who have both recently sank to previously uncharted depths of ineptitude.
Gibraltar are just underrated.
True, they should be ranked ahead of the Rep of Ireland and Scotland.
Would ya listen to Mr 'kin England here. Not content with enjoying his own team's recent improvement, he tries to stick the knife in other football nations by arrogantly gloating about their performances despite one of them actually winning. There is nothing like a bold statement to launch a new era and this was certainly nothing like one. Just koff.
Perhaps you are getting me mixed up with someone else as I have no interest in England at all and have therefore not commented on them. You comment on England often enough, I'm not so sure why you're so precious about your own team all of a sudden.
You can hand it out easily enough that's for sure
