It would be hard for you to comment on the situation in the UK at the moment tbh mate.

You could just as easily say the falling number of homeless seen on the streets of London means poverty is decreasing. It's a handy stat that all anti-coalition folk use, whereas the whole situation is far more complex.

Note: absolutely not trying to deny the coalition cuts have had devastating effect on low earners, merely that food bank use alone is not a good enough measure.

It's the low earners that have taken by far the biggest hit mate, thats what gets folk the most because whenever there is another set of cuts announced it is they who get affected the most again.

I've said it before and I can't help repeating it... "We're all in this together".... its a phrase that if he ever attempts to say again I hope sticks in his throat and makes him throw up all over Osbourne, I know we are trying to avoid this becoming political but it's the cuts that the coalition have made that have hit the low paid, a coalition who after making an announcement of cuts had it pointed out to them how it will affect most the ones who have the least and have nothing left to cut SAT THERE LAUGHING AND NUDGING EACH OTHER.... Every Single 1 of them.

I agree with you. Irrespective of why the cuts had to be made (cuts DID have to be made), the coalition have messed it right up.
 

Unfortunate to hear about these things, even though we know it happens it can still be shocking to hear and see. I honestly feel for people who have nothing, back in school there was a lot of bullying if someone didnt have a certain brand of trainers or if they still had their school blazer from last year, anything to be seen as low income, i was lucky i had everything as a kid but not just from my own parents, my aunt owned her own law business so i was lucky to have her buying me everything that i now realise to be not that important (im sure there are others) such as 110 trainers, playstation 2 and 3, every football tracksuit you can think of (they were great), but deep down i always remember my mother eating beans on toast once because she had no money, she didnt smoke, she didnt drink, the one thing she did have though was too much pride to ask for help. If she didnt earn it, then she didnt get it. Unfortunately there is a rising number of people like my household who had nothing, worried about rent, food and other essential supplies. I hope one day to make it to millionaire status (we can all dream) were i dont have to worry about a thing but i will be forever grateful and grounded remembering were i come from, i just hope that at some point in life we can all enjoy our short time here and not have to worry about hunger and lack of essentials. I also hope that the next generation of kids dont end up like some of the kids i grew up with laughing at others misfortunes. The gap between have and have not is quite disturbing in some areas.

IT'S ON !!!!!

I've had an e-mail back from the club to say that a Food Donation exercise will be almost certainly be confirmed for the Boxing Day game against Stoke... watch this space, and if/when it's confirmed, let's make it a very Merry Blue Christmas/New Year for those who need it !!!

The 5k run i did on Sunday was a charity event to benefit the kids in need at christmas time. Quite a good number did the run. I believe around 4000 people, raising well over $120,000. Good effort all around.
