If we had a new stadium, re-development.

For me the stadia is THE issue.

Its not about bolting on a new stand, its about making Goodison work as best as possible.

Its about improving its corporate facilities, removing the obstructed view, building in non match day events such as receptions, smalll business conferences, better facilities for the players inside the ground (better changing rooms), and enabling it to be used for other activities such as concerts, international football matches etc.

Goodison attendance is currently 80 - 90% of its capacity. And with a new stadia, new owner, more success, we will be oversubscribed, which we are not. The fly in the ointment is that Billionaires do not put £250m into building new stadia. And that to me, more than all the Bill**** billy stuff is why we can't sell Everton.

I know its heretic to praise anything coming from Everton on this forum, but I do actually like the proposed Kirby design as a starting point for any discussion.

Just wish they could build in a Rupert Tower somehow.

Kings Dock was better

found that on kipper with some other stuff from when KD was being touted.

what happened to these though...

Two options to redevelop Goodison Park are also outlined:-

Option 1 involves rebuilding the stadium on the existing site to provide a 45,000 capacity.

Option 2 provides for the redevelopment of the whole area bounded by Goodison Road, Gwladys Street and Walton Lane, & would have a capacity of 55,000.

Both of these options would cost the club around £50m, however, and would not be backed by City planners.
The Kings Dock site would have access to public funding via a European Regeneration and Development Fund.

The new Juve one has kind of raised the bar though for closeness to the action

for all your stadium needs.....

The only stadium in Europe to be rebuilt on the same plot, but with a smaller capacity

Anyway, Everton stadium talk makes me very sad. I'd get a season ticket for sure if we ever moved. Always wondered what the capacity would be if we did ever move. Chelsea are toying with the idea, from what I was listening to the other day, a lot of people don't think they'd fill 60k

We can only dream of being in these type of stadiums, the idiots in charge arent gonna get us moved. Wish they would just say we`re stuck here but no instead you hear them saying we are exploring sites within the city.......

WE HAVE NO MONEY!!!! They`ve said it themselves

my impression of goodison hasn't really changed from when my dad first took me in the early 80s and sat me on one of the barriers in the glawdys street (when people could stand there!)... it's a special place, but in many ways a dump of a ground with poor views...

now in fairness, I have nothing to compare it to as I have never been to another big ground, but it doesn't look any different now from when I went in the 80s/90s... in fact, the last time I went there was in 1999 to bury my dad's ashes at the Park End (hopefully his plaque is still screwed into the side of the pitch - one day i'll do the tour so I can see if it's there).. although that was over 10 years ago, the place looks the same now as it did then (at least watching from tv)... well new stand @ the Park End, but apart from that...

so would I ever go to Goodison to watch a match? - definitely not.... would I go to a new ground with better facilities and watch the odd game? - possibly... in fact, depending on its location, quite likely...

but that's not going to happen for at least five years I guess...

I just want Goodison without pillars and more seats. In the same place. And more corrugated steel panelling. Bang.

I think the problem with the redevlopment is that it would'nt generate the sort of revenue we need.

We dont really need more seats, we need more corporate hospitality and the opportunity to make money on non-match days, I think the club envisaged somewhere with meeting rooms and conference suites that would be hired out on a day to day basis to businesses in Liverpool and the surrounding area.

I think that no matter what we do with Goodison, none of the redelopment options will give us more space for events on non-match days. Thats why redevelopment will never happen.
