If We Got A 5m Bid For Faddy in Jan

I rate Johnson currently as the best striker we have on the books but get your point about Yakubu.

Thats four goals since he came here, Id like to see him terrorise the Chelsea defence next week and get a couple.

Yakubu missed a hatful of chances today. Vaughan takes his, thats why he's up there as he will take the chances that AJ & Yakubu miss.

He's more than potential, he's the most consistent finisher we have.

Just read my previous posts on this topic. I'm not going to repeat it again for those who were not listening.

Riiiiight.....and this is the way to be friendly around here.

This is more than a place to voice your opinions, it is a community, and there is a person at the other end. Please do your best to not upset people as we are actually a very friendly (and sarcastic, hedonistic, dirty, friendly, positive, passionate) bunch.

Enjoy the visit, and you can expect to be treated with some measure of respect (and no, I don't mean you chico ;) ), just try to reciprocate.

well i think that we could get alot more than £5m for faddy cuz celtic and rangers would love to have thre national hero in there side!!!

so if a bid of ermmmm lets say £9/10m then i would!!!

Let me be the first to wish McF bon voyage, for 5 mill I would let him keep his Everton shirt as well as a souvenier. TBH must agree with Ghost, cannot say I would at the moment be that fussed if AJ were to go for 10/12 mill.

Yeah, if West Ham want to shell out 12m? then I think we should take it and strengthen the midfield.

Then again, if he can find his scoring boots then the 12m would be paid.

Let me reiterate that 5M for McFadden in this day and time is TOO LOW.

7-8M is more like it.

That said, I'd like him to stay.

yes ! we've got 5 good strikers and it looks like we play our best and most attractive football playing one ! it's going to be hard to keep them all happy.
mcfadden is almost a legend in scotland, i'm sure that celtic or rangers would pay top whack for him.

No way we did sell him for 5M and to be honest with only 5 striker it's not quite enough if we are to moveinto next level, and with this number of matches that's in demand we going to need all of them!

5 mil? i agree with whoever said that's an insult, consistent or not for the club, he's headlining, and that should be enough to generate the hype necessary to inflate his selling price.

faddy had an awesome goal against blackburn this season, and such close efforts against reading and ManUre, i feel like he's one step off from finding his scoring boots for the club.

as for the johnson / yakubu debate, you definitely can't just look at their numbers. defences play aj a lot closer, which opens up other holes that our players have been taking advantage of. yakubu's goals have been purely opportunistic, and had aj been in that position, he would have easily finished them. yakubu doesn't work hard, and has even been excluded from nigeria's squad for that reason, whereas i see AJ chasing down every ball.

back to Faddy, i think we need to keep him, to be honest i'd rather see yak go. plus does the club make a lot of money off him? i'm sure mcfadden shirt sales are through the roof in scotland.

5 strikers seems like a lot, but vaughan and aj seem to frequently have injury woes which we need to be ready for, if something were to happen to anichebe or yak, i don't want to hav only one reasonable striking option.

in short, keep him, inconsistency is the name of the game for everton players, but thus far it seems like someones always gonna be on for atleast one game, and we're a team that wins as a team, we don't depend on players that consistently put it away (except lescott:lol: ). My point is noone can be expected to score almost every game, so if someone comes up big every once in a while they're worth it. if we keep faddy on our bench, throw him in around the 60th / 70th minute every once in a while and give him a chance to make something happen, i'm sure he'll produce enough to make it worth our while to keep him.

I'm a Scotland fan who follows Everton a wee bit through the faddy connection, and right enough I can understand the general apathy towards him down south. He pops up every so often with stunners but he's lacked consistency with Everton. Right enough, I think if he'd been played up front from the start instead of being chucked in on the wings so often you'd probably have a slightly different opinion as he's no winger. But then he's not fast, he's not strong, not particularly good in the air, so all the usual attributes you'd look for in a striker he lacks. But he does boast the ability to produce something from nothing, and when he's on form his technique and skills are brilliant.

It's amazing to watch a Scotland home game compared to an Everton one. At a Scotland game they read out the team and Faddy gets a cheer twice that of any other player and most games he plays like a star, the crowd never gets on his back and there's a growl of expectation everytime he gets on the ball, but at Everton you see him make a couple mistakes and his head goes down and that's him out the game.

Can't see him staying at Everton for ever though baring a proper breakthrough into the first team. If Scotland get to Euro 2008 I could easily see youse get closer to ten million for him, but if not I don't see who would pay 5m for him... maybe the OF, but they're scarcely flush with transfer funds these days.

So is Yakubu less consistent then AJ?

Lets establish a strikers job. Goals!!!

AJ 40 games, 12 Goals - scores in 30% of games
Yak 7 games, 3 Goals - scores in 42% of games

Strange, but if AJ was sold I wouldn't really care that much. Its not like we only have Madar or John Spencer to come in.

Oh I wish we still had JMM!

I must admit I was thinking the same just before AJ signed the new deal. He can't rely forever on the two goals he got in THAT derby (the memory of Reina throwing the ball onto AJ's head and then grabbing at his head instead of the ball still makes me chuckle  )
