If Everton had a Bilbao style Scouse-only policy

Not sure if this is in the right forum or if it should be in the ale house, apologies if so, please relocate it.

I was thinking about Bilbao and their policy of only having local players in the squad. There's a lot of scousers in English football, could Everton do something similar? Obviously not in real life, but lets pretend moneys no issue and it's something every Evertonian and all the staff decided they wanted and nobody opposed it. What would we have in terms of a starting XI?

I'm thinking for hardmode, no Liverpool players. LFC support I guess is ok if they haven't played for them past youth level?

I can't think of a goalkeeper.

Hibbert --- Ryan Taylor? --- ? --- Baines
Is Osman scouse? -- Barkley -- Kevin Nolan -- ?
Rooney -- David Nugent?

Just a bit of fun, wools please don't fume I'm not encouraging xenophobia against non scousers xxxx

You'd have to include LFC players and assume we were in a one club town like Bilbao. Also they get to recruit from a region that is much bigger than the city of Liverpool, which would include most of the northwest. Finally, they can recruit players of Basque heritage. So you'd be able to include the sons of Scouse parentage (like Lewis Holtby).

First time posting on here and always liked the thought of a team trying this in england. It wouldnt be very successful at all and Athletic's take on it is quite broad anyway considering basque players can be from within the basque spanish region or french basque players like Ruffier and Griezmann. They also can sign any spanish player before the age of 17 i think and eventually get basque nationality with them.

Anyway back on topic this is the best i could come up with without using direct liverpool players

GK -

RB - Ryan Taylor
RCB - Tony Hibbert
LCB - Scott Dann
LB - Leighton Baines

RDM - Joey Barton
LDM - Jay Spearing / Kevin Nolan

RAM - Callum McManaman
CAM - Wayne Rooney
LAM - Craig Noone

ST - Rickie Lambert

The GK i dont think there is one so could always throw rooney in there and put kevin nolan in instead haha

Found a goalkeeper...

Ian Stuart Dunbavin (born 27 May 1980 in Huyton, Merseyside) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Accrington Stanley.

Dunbavin played in the youth team at Liverpool but did not get a first team game so left for Shrewsbury Town in 2000. In 2004, after playing more than 100 times for Shrewsbury, he joined Halifax Town. He had a spell at Scarborough before joining Accrington Stanley in the summer of 2006.
In January 2009, Dunbavin was arrested on suspicion of assault and affray by Merseyside Police, as a result of a bar brawl, for which Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard had previously been arrested.[3] He later admitted to the charge of affray.[4] In August 2009, Dunbavin was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for a year, for his part in the brawl. He was also ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work, and expressed "remorse and shame" for throwing two punches at the victim.

Very decent that, can't believe I forgot about Lambert. Left Barton out to avoid getting my ear chewed off by the posters on here who all seem to hate him haha. I'd have Nolan ahead of Spearing because of Nolan not having spent time with the RS at senior level personally!

Goalkeeper could be Jamie Jones who plays for Leyton Orient.

Not really scouse though as he is from Kirkby......:)

Baines, Hibbo are from outside the strictly drawn city lines, think we need to go for the Liverpool of the people as opposed to the City of Liverpool according to government.

Basque teams are allowed 3 non basque players.
Interesting, guess we'd be less buggered for a keeper then. Still like the idea of an all-scouse team (for fantasy only, of course)
