What age was G Baz when he signed?
Fair point. Barry was great for us in his early/mid thirties. Very much hope Gueye does the same. I’m a huge fan. I was gutted when he left and am really pleased he’s back.

But you have to admit it’s a bit of a different scenario with old Idrissa.

Barry’s game was never based on pace. He never had any. I remember texting my villa friend when he signed. His reply was along the lines of “great player, but slow AF”.

Gueye’s, although decent on the ball, game is based around amazing ability to cover the ground, protect the defence and win the ball back.

If he’s still up to it then great. We’ve got a winner on our hands again. Christ, this team needs it! If he’s not, I’m not sure how this transfer will be received.

Definitely and he will help Onana play better as well. You're mentioning age, Gueye is a skinny small player with the heart of a lion, he is made for running, he will make us and the players around him better full stop.
Fair enough. Would love all that to be true.

Nobody who is “made for running” gets to keep it up at the top level for that long. Hopefully his 3 year break playing with the farmers will have saved his legs a bit but my overriding feeling is it won’t, he’ll be a bit knackered and ultimately just another player we want rid of come the end of the season.

Of course, there’s a possibility this could be the grumpy auld man in me talking.

You're definitely giving off the impression you dropped your pie on the floor tonight.

You grumpy old get ! haha we'll have to wait and see fella and I hope I'm right on this one.
He's the nearest thing to Kante for me and doesn't seem to be picking up the injuries Kante has.

Takes 365 days for his paperwork to be sorted. He makes his first appearance at the age of 35 and signs a new one year deal.
