Are you talking the last 6 months? If so I’d agree. If you think his entire EFC career he was top 3 mid in the Prem you are deluded. If he was we’d have had more offers for him. PSG came in because they needed to spend less at the time due to UEFA regulations.

He was always a top ball winner, it was his use of the ball that let him down, that has improved massively

Mate did you watch him when he was with us, apart from Kante, he had the best stats in Europe with us

Poor short term and short sighted signing. We need a midfield player with goals and ability to pass between the lines. Plus he will have injury issues as he comes towards the end of his career.

Needed to focus on a goal scorer. Not the sentimentality of bringing back yet another ex player.

Of course we need a goalscorer, and a goal creator too. But I don't think for a second there is any sentimentality about trying to bring him back. Teams just walked through the middle of us last year. Lampard is clearly trying to address that - firstly by strengthening defence and now toughening up the midfield. We know what Gana's strengths are - he's an absolute pest and will harry opposition to death. Onana looks like he could be a beast in the middle too. These are players being brought in (hopefully) to make us harder to beat. It will fall to other players to get us the goals we'll need to turn draws into wins.

I like Gueye and think he’ll be a very useful addition but there is some truth here. His best form was when he wanted that PSG move.
How much is he going to be bothered now he’s on the way down rather than on the way up. Can only hope he has more pride than Schneiderlin.
