100% this. Blame the disgusting religion he follows.
But there is an argument to be made that he only follows his "disgusting" religion when it apparently suits his personal views. He wilfully signed for Everton at a time when they were sporting an alcohol firm prominently on their shirt. Following that there was a change to a gambling firm. I don't recall him having an issue with either shirt though I could of course be wrong.

Wonder if he's ever earned any interest on his hefty income? I wonder if PSG's owners or current shirt sponsors accrue wealth and trade with interest payments intrinsic to this? Surely his brainwashed mind would be just as disgusted by those if it was solely a religious issue?

It is what it is - bigotry. I don't for one moment think he should be sacked or even disciplined but blaming the religion gives bigots free license to hide behind it.

If his biggest crime is to refuse to wear a football shirt because of his beliefs then I think everyone should just let him be. It's between Idrissa and PSG to sort out.

If however he comes out with comments that are blatantly homophobic and he starts expressing his beliefs in a hateful way then it's a bit different. That needs to be dealt with.

We're all entitled to our own beliefs. We just need to control how we express those beliefs to others.

It's possible for people to be inwardly homophobic but to outwardly do no harm to the LGBTQ+ community.
Except it does do harm. That's the issue with it. You can take a public stand without saying a word. I'm sure that's not how he would want it to be interpreted (I'm sure it's a very personal belief that he doesn't broadcast to the world in an effort to not hurt people, just going off of the character he showed while at Everton) but he's a famous footballer. This is a public protest. Imagine how the LGBTQ+ community in Senegal would feel about this. It would be potentially devastating to someone who looks up to him. I definitely understand your perspective, I just don't think it's as straightforward as that because intention does not equal impact.

It's only become a public issue because of the media. I'm not aware of Idrissa coming out and saying anything about it in the media at all. It's not his fault that the media have made a story of it. I totally understand why they have made it a story but it's still not his fault.

He's from a place where it's still not accepted, religious dogma is to blame, these kids are brainwashed from an early age in very religious countries. He just needs educating, gay people are just people like anyone else. It's hard too judge him on beliefs he has had drilled into him from a young age.
Religious dogma was also to blame for the people, who flew two planes into the twin towers, and various other acts of terrorism, in the name of religion over the years.

The moral of the story i guess, is that this world would be a better place without religion.

BTW i dont hate gays lesbians etc. Just feel sex has been too rammed down our throats in media for long time

Quite the username I seem to have chosen for myself...

Once, sitting alone at a bar, I was reading the book you've usernamed yourself after. An old drunkard shuffled up and asked what I was reading. I showed him the cover and he said, "Ooooh, they're calling it a science now, eh?"

On topic, it's unfortunate that Gana's apparently disinclined to associate himself with LGBTQetc. liberation. I'd still love to have him back at Everton, though.
