I thought he was out best player in the first half personally
Would open up so many options for us.
For one, we'd have a player to get the ball into Gylfi, and that would open up the middle of the pitch a bit more.
Two, it enables Gana to just do his job.
Three, it gives us a player who can keep hold of the ball when we need to - to take care of it, because that's the biggest area that is lacking in Davies' game at the moment (but that's to be expected).
Whether Gomes will be that player, who knows, but he certainly is the closest we've got at the moment.
He's due back in training this week, so I imagine he'll be back after the international break.

That wouldn’t have took much doing though.
No argument there but I actually thought he had a decent first half , stood out as the best player for me . If we keep him doing what he’s good at he’s a player , no need to try and make him something he isn’t .

Whilst I didn’t think he had a great first half, he’s certainly one of the better players in our team & someone who walks into the starting lineup.
So yes, I agree there’s no need to try and turn him into something he isn’t, he is perfectly capable of doing a very good job in the role he plays now.
Interesting that people didn't think he had a good first half. Personally I thought his first half performance was more impressive, simply because he was pretty much the only one doing anything at that point. He did well second half, but he carried us first half.
Would have won with him playing tonight.

Yep,said it in the todays footy section part at 9pm ish as was watching the game, but missed the tackle live,till i seen it not long later-player diving in and catches Gueye on the ankle,stayed down and went off limping,hopefully its nothing and not ankle ligaments or something
Typical. It's not an international weekend without one of ours getting injured.
Good job Beni is almost back fully.
