He started against Dortmund. Started against Atalanta. Looking at one game, not even knowing the true circumstances, and saying “says it all” is absurd.

Allan was left out of the 11 for Napoli on several occasions. We should give him back huh?

It looks like we have a difference of opinion here and that is the way it will stay. I will say though that he was fit for the biggest game and was an unused sub. If/when we get to anything like a final, a 90%+ fit Allan starts for us.

I see his point and he's not wrong. I see Gana as the relative best of a bad bunch. That period was a dark time. Korean, Allardyce, and Silva don't have a winning record between them so no player here during that will have neither.

Gana was one of 11 when he played under those useless frauds, an on average, was typically one of the better players. It made him a small ray of sunshine in a dark time and so he's looked upon as probably being better than he was as the lone flower surrounded by muck.
No! If you are good in aa badly formed pile of dung you are probably not bad. At PL level there are not too many poor players but there are many poor blends of players. Except Tom Davies who is really rubbish

I don’t want to get in the gana is boss v crap argument - or if Allan is the ultimate v terrible midfielder argument.....,.. however for me, if you had a claw and pick allan up from the midfield and stuck gana in, we wouldn’t be in any worse position right now

both really good defensive midfielder options

Proved beyond dought buying players from relegated teams can work, since then we have got a midfield general from Watford and a CB from Norwich so looks worthy of title medal this season.

They were also terrible in that game so... maybe a bad decision?

Don't get me wrong I like Gana, he served us well and unlike some players who left for bigger clubs I have no issues with him doing better. We both mutually benefited from his time here. However Bayern weren't taking PSG apart - bar the brief spell after half time when they scored - and once they did Gana was not going to be integral to trying to go forward and score a goal. Tuchel may have thought as good as Gana is at tackling, just the movement would be too good to justify a holding midfield who doesn't have CL quality going forward and also hasn't got the height to be of use in set plays.

He is what he is, if you want a player to perform his tasks to a very high standard 9 games out of 10 then he's your man. If you want that bit extra to really stick it to world class teams then he isn't that player.
