Hypothetical - who would you replace Martinez with ?

But there are weaknesss to all managers and even the ones at the very top still have them. Perhaps Martinez won't ever fix his glaring one of defensive organization but personally feel there are a lot worse faults that a manager can have.

Ranieri looks at the moment to be the best manager of the league but unless you've seen someone thrive for a couple of seasons how do you know? And even then you see a talented manager like Mourinho go from hero to zero in the course of six months.

It is an unenviable job tbh despite the financial rewards.

It is indeed, but I guess the money makes it worthwhile.

What I think has cost Martinez as much as anything has been playing the likes of Barkley, Deulofeu and Stones in the same team so much. It's a horrible situation because when we're picking our starting XI we'd have those three in automatically but I think you've got to be a bit more pragmatic as a manager and think whether the team you've put out is the best to pick up a result or to be pleasing on the eye.

I think Lennon, Mirallas and even Naismith could've seen a lot more football. Yeah, it probably would've caused a meltdown on here, myself included but a grittier approach that's less open might've been what we needed at times.

I honestly and truly believe Mourinho was left hanging by his players and they wanted him gone. Costa is truly from what I've seen of him (obviously I don't know what he's like outside the game) a badly unsavoury person.
He likely was, but surely a bit of a character flaw to get a bulk of players to want him out, after all it isn't the first time he has left a turbulent changing room in his wake....

It's weird how people say Moyes disrespected us yet completely forget about what Rafael said.

The only way Martinez is going is if we find someone considerably better. This doesn't mean someone overachieving with another team. It means a proven winner. Someone like Pep, Simeone, Bielsa, who probably won't be coming to us.

We're building something special and it's too obvious to miss. These are some of the hurdles along the way. Let's face them as a fanbase and get behind the manager and players. Today we were robbed. Yet we are still undefeated in 2016.

With a squad like this, we could go undefeated the entire year. Let's hope we show up on Sunday wanting revenge.

We are two wins (or a draw and a win in that order) from winning the League Cup. We are somewhere from 5-8 wins from winning the FA Cup. Let that be very clear before you go on about replacing the manager.

It was the players today. Not the gaffer. Jags with a rare mistake. Howard bottling it again, and going half-heartedly for a ball on the edge of the box.....

Yeah, way to go Tim. There's nothing as great as watching a keeper sprint to the edge of the box, to then just bottle it....

Shocking keeping, he needs to be dropped. First time I've said it, but my patience has snapped.

We should have seen that game out. Too many players started flapping though.
Who keeps picking him!!?

Yeah, to what end though? Outside of the top four there's nothing to be had.

I've never seen the fascination with finishing top 6 or whatever. It's nowhere. The cups are tangible success.
To demonstrate progress to players that you can get into top 4 and then win the league. Generally (unless you are bought by a sheik or you're Leicester apparently) that's how it works. We come 6th, you can say next year we'll do better. Not as persuasive if you are 13th. I am buying the possibility that Bobby maybe able to placate players with a cup, but next season we need to be cracking top 4. And remember that was his stated ambition, his pitch at the point of hire.

Being undefeated in 2016 is NOT a claim to fame it's an excuse, being undefeated / getting them 1 at a time means next to nothing. It's about winning and in the FA cup a draw gets you nothing but another game in a crowded schedule, some where along the line you have to win a game...and we've won 18 in the last 60= not good enough.
