And just to counter some of the negativity

Word processors are much better than typrewriters - how many sheets of paper were wasted in the 80s because of a single typo
I can live in Australia and still get my Everton news at the same time as someone living on Merseyside
A bog standard family car is much better now than it was in the 80s
A choice of foods from all around the world is readily available
Overseas holidays are much more affordable
60s tower blocks being knocked down and more aesthetically pleasing buildings replacing them
30 minute overseas calls for less than $3

and you still can't get a decent sausage or spud in australia

British sausage company, although not sure if you get them outside Perth. It's owned by a guy originally from Jersey and used to own a sausage processor over there. His pork chipolatas are awesome

geographically, just...on a technicality, if you squint a bit. But in reality; Lancs=wool... wool does not=Liverpool...QED
No mate, we were very definitely the biggest city in Lancashire for a long time. Look at any pre-1971 census.

All my grandparents' birth certificates state "Liverpool, Lancashire".

All this was fields.....

Medical treatment is miles better, grandad died needing a single bypass surgery @ 45, something considered really basic today.

We were in it but not of it...see chico's wool map

The noise of aeroplane jet engines when they're approaching.......over the last few years it sounds like they're dropping out of hyperspace or somethin. Used to be a gradual noise that got louder - now it's as though they're right overhead before the noise arrives & the engines are about to fall off.

Lots of people claim these days that fossil fuels are wasteful.

All that oil was doing a lot of good buried under oceans for billions of years.

And yes, I know we've only got one Earth.

*moves to Pluto
