How Far Away is Browning From Stepping Up When Stones Leaves?

Passing and composure will never be there compared to Stones hence why he will be a £40m+ player. Defensively Browning looks very capable and has made massive improvements during the summer. I thought he didn't do too bad on Sunday in the wrong position, no cover and 2 excellent experienced players attacking him.

The view held by many at the club is that Browning is going to be a more complete CB than Stones. He's positionally better, far quicker (the fastest player on our books apparently) and far stronger in the air. He hasn't got the confidence and ability on the ball that Stones has but let's face it, what does Stones's style with the ball produce in terms of winning, or even not losing, games?
Stones was part of a back four unit that last season didn't cover it's self in glory in the clean sheets dept.

Give him a chance. Would rather have someone who wants to play for Everton over someone who doesn't any day of the week. Stones has taught us that unless you invest in your own, other players will not wait for success. Bringing through a core of true Evertonians who don't see us as a stepping stone is probably the only remote chance we have.

Stones seems to have become a much better player since he (allegedly) handed in a transfer request.

From what i've seen of them both Browning is the better of the two out of him and Galloway due to his build. Galloway looks a bit skinny to me. Both are wasted at full back though because both are better at defending than they are going forward, very much like Jagielka as opposed to Stones.

People need to remember that he's right footed though. Galloway has struggled so far being pushed out there due to his reluctance to get forward, but it's even harder for Browning as he's not left footed. I remember Coleman being put there in his first game at Benfica and he had a shocker.

You'll get the usual two camps forming: those who start making out he was rubbish, and those who seem to revel in misfortune happening to Everton and will make out that we'll never find anyone who can play centreback for us again like Stones did. The reality lies in between. Stones is a very good prem centreback with huge potential but also with weaknesses he needs to iron out such as ball watching at crosses, positioning under long balls, unnecessary hero mode rushing out to wide players when the full back already has them, and a tendency to overplay out the back. All centre backs have their own unique problems though.
