Set a very, very high standard with his performances last season. Not anywhere near replicating them so far.
I think against Wolfsburg him and Baines were running rampant, let him get back to full fitness and he'll be doing keepy uppy down the wing in no time

Received a nomination for Irish Sports Person of the Year tonight. He didn't win like, but it is recognition of the fantastic year that he has had.

Well in Seamie. Let's hope he gets back to his best form soon.

/positivity
Yeh Rory Mac deservedly won to be fair. Was surprised Paul Mcginley didnt win manager of year though

not as good when he's forced to send all his time defending. He desperately needs McCarthy back

.....could be a very good point but I suppose McCarthy and Coleman have played together plenty this season. Generally, though, McCarthy and Barry allow both full backs to get forward and when either is missing the impact could be more considerable to the overall team shape and performance than thought.

I am wondering whether McCarthy has in fact being doing the work almost of a player and a half and that is why we miss him so much. Was he doing more than his fair share in his partnership with Barry?
Not the whole picture like imo, there are many factors at play but Seamus does not seem to be bombing on so much as last season. Can't tell whether he is being pressed back or hanging back through decision.

.....McCarthy certainly puts more than a shift in. Part of Barry's role is to sit in for Baines which he does very well. Barry covers less area of the pitch but that's exactly how it should be. Remember our record with Carsley in that position, he was 30+ but rarely missed a game, similarly when Fellaini was given the deeper role he had to be much more disciplined.

Not sure if folk saw the Cattermole interview yesterday but he said his 'new' role was about sitting in front of the back four and he really has to curb his natural instinct to get involved in other areas of the pitch. Just one thing to keep in mind when thinking about McCarthy/Besic dream ticket that's its not all about being busy.

I think he's been hampered by injury and as previously stated a reliable wide man in front of him, looks to be playing well within himself to me,almost scared to throw the shackles off, good lad though, got the right attitude, wants to play, but it may have done him a service to have taken a couple of months out to get himself right.

Just hoping to see Seamus burst through the lines again and fire an angled drive into top corner. Are you listening Santa?!

I'd like the boss Seamus Coleman back please.

I still love him more than I should and know he's coming back from injury and isn't in form, so is low on confidence. He just needs one or two good matches to get his confidence back and he'll be flying again, but, at the moment, it's sad to see him struggle.
