Really is just a lack of confidence. Seems to soil himself now when up against an opposition defender whereas last year he'd have turned them inside out. Still has his odd decent moments in every game like, but he needs to get that swagger back.

One of many reasons why it's just needs to be next season already.

yeah, he's been thoroughly dissapointing this season. if it's because his head's been turned by united and not just a form issue then we must sell this summer tbh. sell whilst his stock is still high, because another season or two like this and he'll be down at about £12m and we'll be wondering whether he should be a backup for us.

I was going to post the exact same thing mate. That's what he looks like, a 60k player. Concentration levels dire atm. I would have Hibbert in a heartbeat over him and I've said that for a couple of months.

Really? I mean, everyone acknowledges his failings going forward but what has he done wrong defensively?

I'm all for giving players a kick up the backside by dropping them when they're out form but I really can't be bothered with Hibbert playing in another meaningful game for us.

Never bloody crosses it. So many times he beats a man then waits until he's caught up or tries to beat about 5 more and gets tackled.

might be to do with the fact that there's only ever one person in there, but still, just lash it in there. has anyone scored an OG against us this season? apart from that bizzare QPR one.

Yes mate I was serious. Don't worry though, Hibbert is injured so it won't be happening any time soon

Woah, woah, woah, at the minute he is worth about tuppence hapenny.

I think some of this is down to a change in tactics from Martinez. Last season both Baines and Coleman were bombing on on the overlap. This season both have been coming inside, into the right and left half positions to take the ball. Neither seem comfortable with it but it is a definite change in tactics. Remember Martinez's comments about Lahm?

One thing I've noticed is defenders are taking away that left footed shot near the edge of the box he loves so much. That was one of his go to moves last year.

Video analysis has killed the lad. Defenders know what to do with him. I'd love to see him play a game as a winger with a RB behind him.

Still though, 60 grand.

High expectations of last year are killing the lad. 3 goals and 2 assists this season. Not bad in comparison to Hibbos average and not let us down too much defensively either from memory. If he had that at this stage last season he would be lauded but we are comparing to his freakish season last year. I can see his confidence improve in tandem with Lennons match fitness.

please show me a player that has bad goals and assists stats when compared to hibbert? ....except luke shaw.

united paid £27m for shaw, they'd be idiotic enough to pay us well over what he's worth.

think it's a bit of a lot of things tbh, he hasn't really imporved as the season's gone on which is the worrying aspect about the change in tactics. then again, everyone's suffered because of that 3 of howard, jagielka and barry leaking so many goals, everyone's been stifled. with a bit of solidarity back hopefully he'll gain the confidence to play his more natural game and get some form.

Solid player, it's possible he might never reach the heights of last season, and I can't see a big bid coming in for him tbh, so think he's got plenty of years to show us that solidity with moments of magic still.
