He signed a five year deal in the summer, don't think he'll be leaving for anything less than £25 million, but more importantly, I don't think Roberto will want to sell. Either way, Coleman is boss and i'd much prefer if he continued to be boss in royal blue

Well done for using one sentence in the entire post.

Am I advocating selling Coleman? No, not at all.

But that's the reality for all clubs outside of Man City/Chelsea.

Buy talent and sell at a profit. 25m for Coleman (if he wants out) is great business.

Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
I would only sell Coleman for silly money and 25 million isn't silly enough for me.

My shock at this thread over the last few pages is that people are even discussing it as an option (wasn't having a dig at you personally mate).

Guess we'll have to take the £25M but we need to spend it on a bloody good replacement and a no-nonsense midfield barsted and another Mirallas type midfielder. Just make sure we don't get stuck with some United waster in exchange.

He's not been too great lately, maybe injuries or maybe he knows about the possible move. These days we do well to hang onto our best players for so long when compared to other clubs outside the moneyed big teams.

A lot of factors to consider tbh,he's been carrying an injury all season which may have been affecting his form,he's looked nothing like the Seamus of last season, but who has?Is the injury he's got the type that will recur and hamper him for the next couple of seasons?,he's 25/26 now so approaching his prime,do we grab the dough whilst his stock is still high?,I actually hope he stays, but weighing up the pro's and cons is Martinez job I suppose, any deal or no deal has to benefit EFC long term.

If he wanted to go then I don't think there's much point in keeping a player against their wishes. They're never going to be the same player again for us.

Maybe he wants to play in the Champions League. I can't really begrudge that as it shows ambition.

Besides, the fee we would get for him would enable us to replace him very adequately for half what we'd get for him, with the rest being spent elsewhere.

I don't want him to go though.

Can't believe people are even advocating the sale of Coleman. We as a club are at low ebb at present. Selling one of our best players, fans favourite will IMO destabilise the club even more and add to the frustration faced by most of our support at present. Add to this we don't have adequate cover in this area at present and I worry about what defensive reinforcements Martinez will bring in anyway. Definitely a no goer for me.

This. We shouldn't be willing to sell any of our best players, particularly in such a difficult situation. Not with the money we get from the TV deal these days.

I trust them to make the right decision. The club was banging on enough earlier in the season about all transfers being footballing decisions from now on, and man u is one of the clubs that can spunk daft money on players, so maybe they'll offer enough to make it worthwhile. If they don't, we won't sell.

I hope.

It's all relative.

If we sold him for 25-30mil then coukd martinez find a BETTER younger player for that money?

One thing is certain he needs cash in to build his own squad and thats a big chunk.

Add in any cash from shifting out deadwood + TV money and there could be 40-50mil there.

Its doubtful.

So far Martinez has purchased 11 players, only 2 have been a success.

He cant pick a player to save his life.

Eleven?

Anyway I'd say of the players bought,

Besic
Lukaku
Galloway
McCarthy

All top players (potentially) and quality signings. He's only wasted real money on Kone so I'd hope that with money and targetting young players he would be successful.

Seems like the others are squad fillers and short term fixes while the youth comes through and he reshapes the squad.

How many first team games has Galloway played?

2 out of 11, Besic and McCarthy, the rest are utter pony.
