Hopefully the EFL cup will serve as an early warning to players to be on their toes. A (kind of) free chance to lose a game and learn from it. Hopefully it spurs us on to spank Bournemouth at the weekend.

I'd prefer to have gone through and am mildly annoyed, as the trophy drought has been too long, but it's not worth a meltdown.

It's, what, 6 matches to win a cup? BFD. Should have been trying to win something for the first time in absolute ages.

That said, it REALLY is just 'one of them games'. Really emphasizes the lack of depth that should have ben sorted in the window. We have nobody to take Lukaku's place, nobody to take Barkley's place, nobody really to take Stekkers place.
