Horse Racing

Lambourn won the derby handily enough, should do the same in the St. Leger going by that

….flat racing not my cup of tea but it’s the Derby so had a very small e/w interest yesterday on Tennessee Stud at 45-1. Neve got a mention until the finish where it came from a mile back to finish 3rd. That’s a few quid back but the way he stayed on, I went immediately to see if I could get a good St Leger price before anybody else noticed.

Only Unibet had it priced at 25-1, I don’t have an a/c with them, looked an hour later and Tennessee is a best 10-1. Not backing at that price but one to watch, trained by a young maestro.

Royal Ascot starts today, I notice Tony Bloom has a horse running with a chance: Poniros in the 5.00pm (about 5/1). Trained by Willie Mullins.

….its that time of year when focus on National Hunt season starts to ramp up even if folk like me already have plenty in their Cheltenham portfolio. Anyway, a Grand National fancy for April;

Regulars may remember I backed Lecky Watson at 100-1 to win the Brown Advisory in March, Willie Mullins already indicating the Cheltenham Gold Cup as an obvious target but he’s been given a very lenient handicap mark of 159. When asked about this, the discussion with Mullins did sway to Grand National.

He might just lack the class for a Gold Cup & I can see Mullins giving him a few nice little runs to protect that mark for Aintree. I’ve had a little interest and thrown an early 40-1 dart at Grand National with 365. That has the option to cash-out if it’s looking likely he’s not heading in that direction.
