It's such obvious utter bollocks there's little point responding.
This bit is particuarly great "Up until around 40 years ago, the consensus was that those who practiced it were mentally deranged, whereas now, the consensus is that those who oppose suffer from a "phobia". It's a total inversion of millennia of human common sense."
Because given the thousands of different cultures that have approved of homosexuals (american indian tribes, african tribes, greeks, romans etc) it's only true if you translate 'human common sense' into "white european common sense" which tells you a huge ammount about a person from the off. Even ignoring that that same common sense viewed woman and black people as inferior and had no problem with torture and slavery.
The whole principle of christianity is that men are essentially flawed and sinful and that their first instincts aren't always the right thing (that's why you need a scripture to tell you that murder is wrong). It's against everything a christian believes in to argue that 'human common sense' is something that should be followed.
But considering Christianity is a Pseudo-Jewish religion, because God (Jesus) was Jewish, as were his parents and his followers, would that mean Jews are homophobic? I've never heard of Jews being homphobic. And Christians being Jewish by proxy would be going against the grain in that case to believe that homsexuality was sinful.
But that's only if you acknowledge God. I think you're sound.
Homosexuality is sinful, though. That's a fact. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all agree on that. And I have no problem with that.
If God says that homosexuality is wrong, you have to be incredibly arrogant to go "actually god I think you're wrong, old chap. I know better than the allknowing all powerful creater of the world".
And in fact given that scripture argues that unrepeant sinners get tortured for all eternity, a religious man could reasonably argue that informing people what God judges as sin and encouraging them to not do it is the moral thing to do. If you don't warn them that God hates homosexuals, you're condeming people to horrible suffering thanks to their own ignorance. You can see why people wouldn't want that on their concious.
My argument is that essentially there is a difference between a sin and a crime. A sin harms yourself spiritually while a crime harms other people materially. Homosexuality is sinful but I don't think it's criminal and therefore the law should ignore it. And ignoring homosexuality means anything a hetrosexual couple can do legally a homosexual one should too.
There is no argument that condemns a gay marriage that isn't equally valid against a marriage of two athiests. Either scripture informs laws or it doesn't.
Are you being serious?
Are you being serious?
Yes, I am both a homosexual and yet believe that homosexuality is sinful. Fortunately since I'm also an athiest I don't really care if I sin or not.
