Homeopathy

Or perhaps because people prefer to use natural remedies rather than chemical cocktails?

Just one example. I use arnica for treatment of sporting injuries and niggles instead of paracetemol or aspirin.

Surely informed choice should be welcomed and encouraged?
Arnica isn't homeopathy though mate, it's herbal and some of those things can work. Aspirin based meds (Ibuprofen for eg) are derived from the bark of willow trees and Digoxin (heart med) is from the digitalis plant (foxglove I think).

Obviously I'm always going to recommend the officially licensed medical option but some (obviously not all) herbal things can work.

Homeopathy is nonsense entirely. It's just water and a con. Don't confuse homeopathy with herbal things.

Thanks, always thought it was, my apologies :)

I agree. if you trace back the origins of a lot of widly used medication it started off as a natural remedy - aspirin for instance is an extract of a natural product.

There is a place for homeotherapy in modern medicine, however like anything else it needs to carefully controlled and regulated to protect the vulnerable and desperate.

Where does Naproxen come from mate?

That's the stuff, that is.

It's an NSAID, so very loosely, probably Aspirin based (so willow trees).

It's quite strong and causes dizziness in a number of people but if it works for you then great.

Was that for your tooth?

Yes mate.

I don't ever take painkillers and that stuff absolutely wiped me out (even though I understand it's pretty basic stuff?!) - gained an appreciation for how people could become addicted.

There's nothing like tooth/ear ache.

Perforated my eardrum last year and my God, the pain! Had the full whack of co-codamol for that along with NSAID's and was still feeling it.

I'd hate to be relying on homeopathy for that sort of stuff.
