Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

Yup seen that myself

Anyone with a modicum of ability to read a person reaction can see that he heard something VERY provocative, question only is did he mishear it or was what he heard what was said.

If you watch the whole body language it's very clear. He doesn't move when the Portuguese insult is given. I should add that the Portuguese insult is itself misogynistic hate speech. Not getting bogged down in that though, you then see something else is said, which no angle has captured yet, but Holgates body language completely shifts. He then clearly says "he's called me a [Poor language removed] n*****" to the ref and to Schneiderlin. The ref says no and Schneiderlin pushes him away which is a disgrace.

In the aftermath something is said calmly between Holgate and Lallana and Lallana looks embarrassed and ashamed and reacts calmly to Holgate.

The 4th official then gets involved. The BBC were suggested it was a spit though that clear didn't happen. I wonder if either something has been heard on the mic, or the ref has has asked for some clarity and the 4th official has given him some guidance/support.

The most telling thing, other than the actual testimony of Holgate is that he doesn't take any action against Holgate, for something that should have been a yellow and could have been a red. This smacks me of a referee that didn't want to be seen to be sending a fella off who had just been racially abused. Imagine the storm there would be now had he have done this.

Agree with what you said apart from this, which is very harsh, he sprinted over to support his team mates and prevent a red card, while his captain tied his shoelaces

The ref lost all control of the situation Mason should have had a yellow if not more(see I can see when our players are in the wrong) but then he also wound the lad up by giving a soft pen.

It's disgusting and it's never the families that do it either. The fact they are working with the Sun to discredit a young black lad who's brought an accusation of racism is about as low as anyone can go.
They all subscribe to Murdoch TV, so it doesn't surprise me.

Madley juggled five situations at once and dealt with none of them, most comically shown by the fact Davies was on the pitch in the middle wearing his yellow warm up vest and didn't get booked mate

I'm glad he's not made a snap call on this.

He's left it to the FA to deal with. It's on them now. We can't say for definite what happened and both clubs have dealt with it well so far.
