The playoffs are now in the second round. In the previous round, there was a deciding Game 7 between Vegas and San Jose. The Sharks were down 3-0 with about 10 minutes left when Vegas took a five-minute major penalty, and San Jose went on the power play.

Normally when you go on the power play, the 5-on-4 man advantage ends when you score a goal. Not on a major penalty, though. The power play goes on for the entire five minutes, no matter what. The Sharks scored four times on the power play and took the lead, then won the game and the series in overtime (golden goal). This is the San Jose TV broadcast of that power play:

@TheFinnFan tell me about the kid Kiviranta? Took my two oldest and a friend to see the Stars play the Red Wings early this month and it was his (unplanned) NHL debut and his parents were there also (visiting him in AHL and already had tickets). He seems like someone the organization likes, and I read Lehtinen had a small role in recruiting him. That's now 4 Finns on the current Stars roster and my man crush on Hesikanen is already strong.

Well Kiviranta is one of those who sensationally won last years world cup. If im perfectly honest I dont know much else about him. Lehtinen is contributing in such a way that Stars will win SC in not so distant future
 
I miss living on the Island and going to Islanders-Rangers games at the Coliseum...the old 1940 chants, fights throughout the crowd, some potato knishes.
Caps games are fun but it’s just not the same

Watching the Stars live with my kids (their first time) and it's not even the same as the first Stars game I saw, made me want to go to an old school team/arena. I'd like to see the Habs, but probably would enjoy any of about a dozen "real" hockey teams including the Isles.

Yeah, that cheap shot on Turgeon was beyond ugly. But people where I live love him for turning the London Knights into a perennial major junior powerhouse as well as coaching Canada to the world junior title a couple of weeks back. And he's the only NHL player to score at least 1,000 career points and have at least 3,000 penalty minutes. Takes some doing, that.

Isn’t he part-owner too? Thought that was one of the reasons he didn’t stay longer as Caps coach.
I loved Turgeon. What a player he was
