The Leafs are very much like Everton -- original founding members of the league, wear blue and white, won tons in the past but fack all lately. The only difference for me is I'm not a Leafs fan.

I don't think Everton have a remotely similar fanbase or obnoxious media as do the leafs.

Took my kid to watch the local team not that long ago. 2 things occurred to me. 1, they can skate really really fast. 2, the game really isn't that good. Won't be going back

The two-line pass was eliminated in 2005, severely weakening the neutral zone trap. Now you can pass from your own end all the way up to a waiting player at the opposing blue line (called a “stretch pass”) and it’s legal. Before, the player could not be across the red line if you did that. So you would then overload the first half of the neutral zone with defenders, and there was nowhere to pass the puck. Now the defense has to cover a much bigger area and it’s easier to get through.

Icing is when you intentionally shoot the puck down the ice from your own half of the rink. This is usually done when you are under pressure and trying to clear your lines. If you ice the puck, the faceoff comes back to your defensive area and you cannot put fresh players in the game. Icing rules do not apply when you are killing a penalty (shorthanded).

So do the Stars play a custom song from Pantera during breaks in the action? I’ve heard it before but never noticed. I know Pantera was close to one of the ‘99 gang, although I forget which one. (It’s not like it’s a difficult song like, heavy metal riffs, catchy words, “Dallas... Stars... [repeat]”

7 Game series are a joke in the NHL.

It's 2-3 days between games, which means if a series goes the distance like Washington and Carolina, if the team they are facing i.e. NY Islanders who swept the Penguins, the team who wins 4-3 takes the momentum.
Should be over 5 games.

And yes, I'm an Islanders fans. Yes, they are currently on day 9 without a game, and will reach day 12.

I think it was Craig Ludwig who was friends with their drummer. They came up with the song before the 1999 playoffs (it was literally written overnight) and the Stars have used it ever since. They play it when the team comes out on the ice and after every goal.
