Hitzlsperger

OK, the only thing I ever remember about Hitzlsperger (I think I'll use Tommy H in the future) is scoring from long distance. I don't remember if he was a good short passer, whether or not he tracked runners etc. However, what I do know is that we don't have the players now that Bily & Rodwell are gone to have a pop from distance so defences & midfields know that they don't have to worry about Osman or Neville scoring from 25 yards out (or even 2.5 yards for Neville) so he might give us another option from the bench when teams park the bus.

Of course if we sign him and he sticks one past Reina at the end of the month then I'll proclaim him to be the next Beckenbauer.

Nevilles(few) goals for Everton have been from distance. Mirralas shoots from distance. Gibson shoots from distance. Peinnar shoots from distance. Baines shoots from distance. Others have been known to shoot from distance. So you're wrong, in my opinion.

Has Neville scored yet without a deflection? Maybe Wolves away last year was the only exception?

This is petty and fitting of bluekipper. What are your thoughts of the player himelf....do your trust Moyes?

Two were from the edge or inside the box (hardly distance) and the other two were meant to be crosses, one of which he hit into his own standing leg. Neville was 20 yards out the other day with no one for miles around and chose to turn round and play a square 5 yard pass. Surely you can't say he's a distance shooter?

Pienaar doesn't really shoot from distance and neither does Baines to be honest, so I can see where this guy's coming from.

Gibson can have a dig and Mirallas seems to like a try from the edge of the box, but when you can't get there Hitzlesperger can belt them from fully 30.

By the time he's fit, settled in & has convinced Moyes he's capable of a start, it'll be Christmas.

This is a decent idea that will end up turning into a McFadden imo.

He's got more than just a good dig, he's got a good long and short passing range and is a very cultured footballer, very similar in style to Bastian Schweinsteiger, he would be lining up in the Germany starting XI if it wasn't for his injury problems over the past few years. The fact that he is on trial to prove his fitness is a good thing. It means that if he signs he still has the fitness to perform at the top level and that will mean that after a couple of weeks of him picking up game time with the U21's and the first team, we will have the option of a top class German midfielder in our ranks, it's all good news.

Ex-Germany international Thomas Hitzlsperger is training with Everton.

Thought when he was fit he was West Hams best player. As many have said, if we can get him fit and then keep him fit we will have a very good player for the squad, heres hoping he can prove his fitness. Just gives us something different in the middle of the park. Gibson-Hitzlsperger sitting deep ;)
