Hibbo.

Season ticket holder, go to 5-10 away games a season. Hardly uneducated.

I have been watching for over 25 years, I've seen the great Everton teams. Hibbert is not a great player, never has been.

He's a great servant.

If we want to kick on and be a sucessful side again, we need to replace players like Hibbo. As hard to hear as it may be for some of you.
Yes I ultimately I agree. It just annoys me when you call him 'utter gash' which he clearly is not.

Hibbo is actually one of the very few in our team that can put in a decent cross. IIRC Gary Neville who is well respected seems to agree.

In the last couple of years he's been able to put in a decent cross when given a bit of space, before he;d either overhit it or hit it straight at the defender.

He can tackle and hassle any winger on his day, but he will always run the risk of losing concentration and drifting inside letting the winger get in behind him.

But that bit of skill on Monday where he flicked the ball up and over the Newcastle player was great.

Well, I don't think he'd get in to the Newcastle, Spurs, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City or Liverpool team.
I'm sure there are other teams in the League who have better RB's that I am missing out.

Do you mean their starting 11's? He would definitely make the newcastle and spurs bench, probably liverpool as well. Before Walker came through hibbert probably could have started for Spurs a couple seasons ago (much better than hutton or asou-ekoto)

If you do mean starting 11, isn't that a little like saying gael clichy is holding city back because he probably wouldn't start for chelsea, united, us, and possibly arsenal?

In terms of "worst player in possession......" you're missing the England international next to Hibbo who is a much bigger culprit, and who has been culpable of significantly more costly mistakes........Jagielka.

Hibberts actually been very good over the past 2 seasons, people just seem to want to continue to scape goat him and chat rubbish about the lad.

He has improved going forward and is now crossing decent quality balls throughout games. He is also probably the best tackler at the club.

People will probably try and use him as a scapegoat no matter what.

He's a good honest lad who has been a great servant and a bit of a cult hero due to the score we riot thing.

He was well ripped apart in the FA Cup Final though unfortunately. Maybe his worst game for us. Certainly his worst important game anyway.

At the risk of everyone yawning......an 80s story. LB John Bailey was popular and a character. As nice a lad as he was, he was replaced by Psycho Pat. No room for sentiment then or now. We need a better RB, end of.

Damn I remember that mop..

Defensively Hibbert has been excellent especially against United and Newcastle but I think some people are right, a top class right will be needed to take Everton to the next level. Will be great to see Seamus Coleman grow into that role.

He got interviewed by Dan, who asked him if we could expect to see him on Twitter.

His response - "nah, I've got nothing to sell."

Asked what his favourite cheese was, he said "I don't know, the yellow kind".

I'm not even joking ^^

I love the guy. That article is spot on like - "he has never, ever shared a sentence with the word ‘cavalier.’" hahaha

Agree with this. He's been a lot better than people give him credit for.

Here's what I do to his sceptics - I ask them this one simple question.

"Name one thing he's done wrong?"

I never get an answer.

Tony Hibbert is easily one of the best tacklers of the ball in the PL. Certainly in the top 5.

His main issue is positional play, he gets dragged forward too often and is exploited by fullbacks quite a lot.

He's pretty sharp and can put a good cross in, especially from deep.

A lot of people point to the FA cup final as some sort of proof that he is crap.

1. That was years ago
2. He has played probably 100 games since and never had a game as bad as that

I don't think anyone wants him dropped because of his defensive play, its his offensive play.

he has the odd good cross but most of the time just wastes possession.
