Hibbert & Osman

Good post TB. I am very interested to see who plays where next season..with all the combos been used so far this time round.

One thing is for sure Hibbert really does bring forth some strong opinions from Evertonians . Ones you have to respect as we all think were right but the one thing we have all in common is our love for Everton and to see them do aswell as is possible .

Big up that post (y) In our own different way I think we are saying, who can bring something to the party in those particular positions which will improve us. I hate the cliche that football is about opinions, but in this case it really is.

I do think our priority area for improvements is the right hand side. I didn't see the game yesterday. I think Osman and Hibbert can both perform very well, but they don't have a high level of consistency which would be nice...perhaps we'll buy a right sided midfielder come the summer and Osman can be competing for a CM place and only occasionally have to be used on the right. Same for Hibbert, I'd rather he was a backup to be honest, even though he is quite good.

Hibbert is a decent rightback but I have no desire to argue on that one; my main gripe is Leon Osman bashing.
He has been injured and played out of position for the entire season. He was absolutely ******* ace last year when he was played centrally and we had cries of "sell Arteta!" when he was played out wide. Being that kind of "tuck in" type player, its a ******* difficult position. Your job is to put in a shift and take all defensive responsibilites away from the likes of Cahill. You dont get much joy from that position. Arteta took pens, corners, free kicks and still didnt have his best season last year - Osman doesnt get to take any of those.
He is a quality footballer and a joy to watch in the middle of the park as proved by last year's showings in games like Newcastle last day of the season, Sunderland 7-1, Pompey at home, Fiorentina e.t.c.
If you look back at post history from last year you will get a multitde of posts ****ging off Arteta and praising Osman. What Osman's performances show us - apart from what we already know, that hes been playing out of position - is that we need a proper winger so we can shift him inside.
A midfield trio of Osman, Rodwell, Arteta with Pienaar and another winger out wide is the future.

Everton getting rid of Hibbert and Osman would just be plain stupid.

I could possibly understand if we had bags of money in which case we'd go out and get the best player in the world at each position. Oh, and we'd have to convince them to come play for Everton vs Milan, Madrid, Barca, etc....

But since we don't have bags of money and a lot of players won't come play for us, it's absolutely essential that we have players like Hibbert and Osman in the squad.

They don't cost us an arm and a leg and they get the job done.

That or my eyes are deceiving me and we really aren't sixth in the table right now, in the FA Cup Final, and have qualified for the Europa League next year.

This topic would be best in the Knee Jerk Reaction Thread.

Quite agree, TX Bill has it spot on.
What should also be remembered is that these players are Moyes' selection from the best squad he can affford to assemble. So if that isn't deemed good enough it's no good picking on the players as the team & tactics are down to the manager - & he doesn't seem to be doing too bad a job as far as i can tell.

Hibbert is boss, end of. Osman is boss, being played out of position, he's blue through and through and i love him. But your all entitled to your opinions. Mine just happens to be that i like him and hope he stays in the starting X1

He might not be playing well but he gives 100% and that's all i ask for from him!

I also forgot to add that these two were academy products.

You can't put a price on having your youth/academy players see the Hibberts, Osmans, Rodwells, etc... having success with the first team and know that they're playing for a club that will give a youth player every opportunity provided that they make the grade.

You would do well to read the entire thread where you would see that " this is a knee jerk reaction " retort has been well answered

Anyone who said that this is a knee jerk reaction can kiss my arse . Your so wrong to the point of it being a joke . I suggest you actually go and watch Everton first hand not from the limited view of a TV set
