Aston Villa have confirmed they have agreed a £3.5m fee with Wigan for England striker Emile Heskey.

Heskey, 31, had said he would decide on his future at the end of the season, when his current contract expires.

I know a lot of people rate him, but his goalscoring record is awful, he might suit the way Villa play, but im glad we wont be seeing him in blue, hes utter crap.

I can see him being hit and miss really. He'll hold the long hoof balls they play really well and bring in players....but he's got no pace to run onto any of the hoof balls over the defence.

They gonna play 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 pushing Agbonglahor out wide? Big John Carew is back to fitness as well and he does the similar job to Heskey as a target man but he's taller.

Bit of a strange signing IMO.

Wigan will have that Hugo dude....now he is very good.

I agree. Villa look more dangerous when Agbonlahor has a Carew/Heskey type player alongside him. Now they have cover in a specialist position and/or a different option from the bench.
