Henry and Carragher...

Course they have mate, they had the world class Sterling (bought him), the MAGNIFICENT WORLD CLASS BETTER THAN STERLING Jordan Ibe (Sold him) and the best defender of the modern age Jon Flanagan (loaned him)

Yeah so nobody then.

I didn't understand that comment either, most of the lads who come through for us are locals through the academy.

Their youngsters are poached from other clubs, i.e Ibe came from Wycombe, Sterling QPR...

Edit: oops, just noticed that was exactly what Darth was saying.

Exactamondo homeboy.

Rooney will speak well of both clubs, and I would imagine he would appear more neutral.

Regarding Carragher, once you have allowed the cultist red ways to derationalise your thought process it is almost impossible to get your free thought pattern back. They begrudge everyone else any modicum of success, especially us, and of course United. And they hate money bags Chelsea and City.
Yet call us bitters.
Had this argument with friends many times. You can't be a 'real' Everton fan if you go and play for Liverpool. None of my mates can understand why the likes of Owen, fowler, carragher could stand on the terraces supporting Everton and then join Liverpool. I just couldn't look my friends and my family in the eye if I went to Liverpool. Does anyone else feel like this?

I suppose if your dream is to play football and your team doesn't want you then maybe the next best thing is to prove them wrong at your rivals.
Got to remember it would have been the parents making all the decisions at that age as well. ££ signs can make any parent turn a blind eye.

Anything be know who Carragher's brothers and Dad support now? I can understand him choosing RS, but be surprised if his dad changed allegiance at his age.

For £70k a week I would. Still wouldn't change the fact im a blue. Although the second another club shows interest in me im gone lol

I'd kin play for Liverpool for a few grand a week, never mind 70k! Anybody who wouldn't do similar is off their head, unless already absolutely loaded and thus no need for the money.

Was watching

Was watching on Sky when Henry said it to Carragher. Carragher didn't reply but almost admitted he still was by the look on his face.

If I had to guess, I would say he's still on side

BTW, hearing Redknapp say "us" when talking about the RS when the commentators turned to him for an opinion was far worse
Not seen the vid of him when mane scored against us - he's defo still a red

I'm just referring to the fact of Liverpool came in for me. I'd quite happy sign for another club, I've no problems with that. It's fair to say if Liverpool wanted you as a youngster, it's probably fair to say other clubs would as well.

I dig what you're saying but come on.

If one of us was a young footballer making his way and the RS came in with a bid heads are well capable of being turned.

And don't forget if cuts both ways.

Who is more pro Everton than Peter Reid?

Yet Reidy says he cried the night we won the title in 1970.....and not with tears of joy.

The late Gary Abblett served this club with distinction despite being a dyed in the wool Red.

David Johnson joined EFC.....twice.

As fans it is is easy to make statements that we would not play for this club or that club.....but the reality of life as a professional footballer, or an aspiring professional footballer, is way different.

You don't have to like your employer to work for them. There must be loads of people who work for Tesco and shop at Sainsbury's - or work at Sainsbury's and shop at Lidl or whatever.. Being a footballer is a job and 90% never play professionally - at any time - for the team they loved as a kid. So yeah, Carragher obviously became a Liverpool legend and you'd expect him to stand up for them somewhat. Also he doesn't need the aggro if he praises us and omits to mention the Liverpool kids in passing. On the other hand he isn't a *** like Gerrard.

As far as family are concerned I really couldn't see me following them EVER if a direct descendant ever played for them but I suppose others might. Nephews (for example) wouldn't count though.. wouldn't be arsed to follow them at all. Of course if your sons/grandsons played for United/City or anyone else for example you wouldn't feel sullied cheering them on (if he was in the side) and it surely wouldn't dampen your support for Everton.
