I own a small youth soccer site in the US. I recently posted the photos on the thread about "soccer fans from around the world" or something like that. Photos of beautiful women until the last. I thought it was really funny.

I recently joined when LD came on, and quickly became a fan. Watching game tommorrow....I might be wrong, but I thought that Everton and Manchester City were long time opponents. It appeared that way to me, but I could have been wrong in my assumptions.

When I posted that, someone came back and said that I was soooo wrong. Wrong city, etc,

Could someone set me straight so that I can either edit and say that I stand corrected or am I right?

Man City are in the same city as Man Utd. Man City are rivals, but not city rivals like Liverpool are. Man City are north-west or inter-city rivsls as both teams are situated in the same region of England. The rivalry between the two cities of Liverpool and Manchester filters down to it's football teams as the two city's are about 30 miles apart

So I am wrong about city placement, but not about the rivalry? I am trying to understand my new EPL team. I hate looking like a doof.

It's not a historic rivalry like the one with liverpool. It's only now that's it's becoming rather heated, I believe.
 
It's not a traditional rivalry. It really flared up this summer, over the Joleon Lescott affair. We don't like them because they're a bunch of jumped up, ignorant prats.
 

Also there have been many season where we haven't had any games against man city, due to them being a bit of a yo-yo team going up and down between the divisions, and at 1 point dropping to the 3rd tier of English football.
That would've continued had they not been bought by an unscrupulous former Thai prime-minister and then the arabs.
Chelsea before investment were also an 'elevator' team.

My mate - with the flat cap / whippets / leeks / ferrets , etc - NAILS IT , yet again .
 

We have, or at least had, more in common with City than we did with other clubs.

Both had old grounds with a lot of history. Both became the little brother of bigger teams in United and Liverpool, and both had witnessed their share of success, even if Everton had enjoyed a lot more.

There still used to be a few fights at matches, but nothing serious really.

Most of the older City fans are still decent lads, but the new breed of fan is a proper little tit, and it's this type of fan that are causing other clubs fans to talk about them in a different light. You only have to look at how many members have joined Bluemoon since they became rich and read what a lot of them write to tell the difference between old school and glory hunters.
 
I have read every reply on here, and I am flommoixed, to use a Brit term, or did I misspell it? "Whatever", in US terms. Anyway, I got outed on my own forum, and had to say that I was stupid, BUT, I have not really understood one post on here either! Did you do that on purpose? Perplex the Yank?

I did not watch the game today because I could not find a feed. They seemed to be all down, even Veetle, the reliable. SO, I had to read it on here, until before the 2nd goal, and this site went down, and I went to Sky to get an update. Thank God, you were then up 2. Am I not chosen! Happy. Great game, just wished I could have seen it!

Read all of the 59 posts, trying to see if we won with about 10 minutes left, and the got the message that the posts had reached the limits......... You know, it is hard being an Everton fan,,,,,,but today it was really worth it.

And BTW, to those, maybe a couple that took up for me on my site, I thank you. But, I won't be wading into the EPL for a while, since I have to get up to speed. (The Brits on my forum are nasty). Given the posts on here, that will take a long time. Especially with you lot.

Your doing fine on here. Look at your rep. Maybe only comment on the stuff that has to do with US soccer untill you become comfortable with talking about the EPL. You will learn, don't give up.
