Heitinga

I think it is about height and physical presence at the back, If one of Jag or Distin had to be dropped then my pick would be Distin because he is more prone to a mistake and doesn't have the positional awareness that Jags has, the amount of times I have seen Jags clear the ball of the line for us is countless.

Also Arsenal are not the tallest at the back and they are the only team not to concede a goal this season.

huh? all mertesacker has is height, and vermaelan is very tall as well. forget full backs because everyone but stoke has smallish full bakcs.

I know I read on here he's a huge blue , wants to fight or his place & wouldnt leave whatever , that's right isnt it ??

what does this mean sheeds?

for me it would be heitinga and distin every time. we need distin because he of his size, strength and speed, and the fact that he is left footed is a bonus meaning we dont have to put heitinga or jags at LCB. although heitinga isnt as strong in a tackle as jags and doesnt win quite as many aerial challenges, he offers more for me because of the way he reads the game and his positioning is top class, plus the fact he doesnt just hoof the ball randomly up the pitch like jags. rotate the 3 around depending on what time of team we are playing to keep all 3 happy, but my main 2 would be johnny and distin.

he sudnt be even mentioning that other teams were interested in him and its not the first time when jags was injured and cudnt get bk in he didnt say anything worked hard and got bk into the team eventually so shut it johny and wait your chance and then take it like jags has if your good enough and stop this mutterings of others team interested in you!!

Absolute miles away from World Class mate. A handful of International caps between them mostly in friendlies and against unfancied opposition doesn't make you world class.

world class is pushing it but defo the 3 are well up there in terms of been top premiership class bar vidic, vermalen, kompany, and one or two others aint many better centre backs out there than our 3

Why would Heitinga stay at a team who finish 6th-8th and don't win silverware when he could go to a team who consistently get into Europe, and where he would actually be a starter ?

He has a young family that may have settled in the UK. There is a human element too ask Rafael Van Der Vart or should I say his missus.

none of the english top 4 sides or spanish top 4 would take him fiorentina are europa and turkish league isnt the best but would be getting champs league well group stage anyways so prob best stay with us and get europa football next year!

Some people seem to have a problem that we have 3 quality central defenders and can't wait to ship one out so we can sign bloody Scott Dann or something. Let's get rid of this small time mentality. It's a long season and Johnny will play lots.

I agree with this. We WILL get injuries at times, too

if he was such a class act he,d get in team week in week out
not really though mate, we all know moyes loves a left footer at centre half, and the form jags has been in for last few seasons has been superb. just feel he has been unlucky. you can't question his attributes and his ability to bring the ball lout of defence.

im not sure about this left footer option theory end of the day think it comes to best parterships and jags and distin is the best partnership but im sure with injurys form suspensions heitinga will get a fair share of game time

i think moyes does prefer a left footer, gthats my take on it anyway. one thing for sure though, we have got three cracking centre halfs. duffy looks a good prospect aswell. like him
