Sharpy, i've got to totally disagree with you. It was the world cup final, Holland were playing the WORLDS best team(fact) it was extra time and 0-0 now for him to be a CB and be woeful then surly Spain should of been 2 or 3 up. Heit had a decent game an was sent off for what now classed as the norm, a player feels a touch an hits the deck, Howard Webb thinks he reffing Man U and sends the guy off. Howard Webb was woeful. De Jong should of been red carded as well as Bommel.

Mate , I KNOW I'm in exile , but I'm with the boy on this . Iniesta felt a touch and went down .
Little fuka .

JH had saved the game from Villa and was stand out defender . Puyol made a far worse challenge on Robben .

I'm with the young'un .

Always glad to see you back from exile LCab. Stay here this time, please!

Anyway. Heit got sent off for an incident that was fairly weak compared to other challenges that went unbooked in this game. I think Webb gaev the second card to Heit simply because Holland had been playing this rough the whole game and he knew he should have sent someone off earlier, so he took the chance when it turned up and sent Heit off. If someone else in the dutch team had been sent off earlier, Heit wouldn't have gotten a second there. Much like Robben didn't get a card for kicking the ball away long after the whistle but the spaniard did a few minutes later.

I thought Heit did a good job keeping the spanish forwards, some of the best in the world fairly neutral and poor most of the game. He did a few blunders, but he did some very good defending as well. He also had a dangerous header just outside the post on a FK, but got whistled for an offside. I also got the impression that his fellow CD was worse and Heit had to cover for him more than once.

The game was woeful.

I was really dissapointed with the dutch approach. Webb probably spent about 25 mins of actual game time either booking people or telling them off.

I felt Heitinga played well up until the sending off. Both his bookings were fairly soft in comparison to Van Bommel 5/6 bad challenges.

If I Kung Fu kicked someone like that in day to day life, i'd be in the nick. That pretty much explains why De Jong should of been red carded.

The final turned out as I expected, a tight game with two teams scared to commit. When they did commit men forward, chances happened. Robben should of buried his chance, Ramos should of hit the target with his header, and Fabrigas should of squared it.

I take solace in the fact that the winner was a well taken goal by someone who proably deserved it. I wanted the Dutch to win, but some of the players were disgraceful, so I wanted the Spanish to win, but their players seemed intent on capitalising on the Dutch madness. Then finally i decided, I wanted Johnny H to win, but it wasn't to be....

Don't worry Johhny, I still love ya!!!

The best thing Johnny did was stand like a rock and let Torres clammer into him.

Please forgive me Dutch Toffee but Holland looked thuggish last night with Robben stirring the pot all night. Everyone is on Webb's back but the Dutch tactics were deplorable. DeJongs karate kick should have been a straight red and when Robben kicked the ball away he should have had his marching orders. Van Bommel was he Mascherano in disguise? They were toothless and to whiney. Poor ol' Johnny not a bad game but made mistakes that got him in trouble.

Funnily enough I wanted them(Holland) to win but after watching the first half I was about to throw up.

at least the dutch wernt boring like Spain, did double the passes the dutch did and in total scored 7 goals in 7 games. BORING. Yeah the spanish keep the ball but they do fek all with it.

Thought the match was gash...

...Regardless of Johnny's performance, he's been the bollox for us the past 10 months, and I don't expect any change.

Fair enough if that's your opinion, but I'm well and truely baffled how it's possible the Dutch came out of that match as the only culprits. I just don't get it.

Sorry Dutch. I just couldn't believe the game really. I just didn't think either camp was effective in their tactical play. I watched nearly every Dutch game this tournament and this just wasn't how they led me to believe they would be this final. I easily had them winning over Spain. Spain have their own divers no doubt but that DeJong high kick did me in for the rest of the night. I just felt very uneasy about Robben. I will say hats off to him not going down when Puyols tried to hack him. Casillas had a banner night or Holland could have had it 2-1. But Robben's constant complaining and kicking the ball away could have been his undoing. I understand his frustration but so did Howard Webb apparently. Most would of sent him packing early tbh.

Have to agree with Tennessee mate, we were all shock to see Holland played like that. We never expect something like this from Holland.

Dutch mate, we're not happy to see Holland lose, we're just unhappy and shock at the level of aggression that were dished out.
Spain just did what most team would do when facing an over aggressive opponent, draw fouls and more fouls. Not that it's a very sportsmanship approach, but that's the only way to take advantage the situation.

I dont have a problem with the way Holland played, a braver Ref would have sent them all off, then its not a problem, why people are shocked that a team with Van Bommel, De Jong and Heitinga in, played agresssively I dont know.

De Jongs tackle was 1 of the best ive seen in a long, long time, neck high, superb.

Don't want to start it all over again in this thread and would like to look forward to the season with Everton, instead of keep on rambling about the past, but how was Robben's behaviour any worse than Iniesta's? Look, I agree that De Jong's kick should've been a red and also van Bommel could've been sent packing, but the Spanish were definitely no angels either.
