McBain

Player Valuation: £80m
So looking at our current squad, I'd say we've got some pretty choice players. But looking back over time we've had some even choicer players.

I'm nowhere near qualified to do it, but could the everpresent and supreme footballing minds on this forum pick a current member of the first team and compare him to one of our greats?

Say like Howard V Southall, or Yakubu V Latchford, or Arteta v Reid, but make it up yourself. Doesnt have to be an essay, just an opinion. Have a go you mugs.

Keepin it fresh - x Mcbain x

You cant compare todays players to legends, thats so unfair, what your asking is which of the current squad would fit into an all time Everton Team. And its all about personal choice. I would like to think that Cahill and Arteta would fit into a team somewhere, they are both well on the way to becoming legends, but the teams of yester year have something that sadly our current players dont, medals.

I think youve missed my point....with all that opinion you could have added something constructive there mate.

Ok.

Southall - Howard - No contest, The binman is a complete legend.

Stevens - Hibbert - Shagger was top notch, i think we all agree that whilst Hibbo is solid, hes hardly top notch.

Van Der Hauwe - Baines - Maybe too early to judge Leighton, but hes got a lot of work to even come close to PhyschoPat.

Ratcliffe - Yobo - Ratters was amazing, not many faster and not many got past, Joey is of the same mould, but not really at The Rats level yet.

Watson - Lescott - Big davey was a beast in the air, Lescott aint shabby either, possibly JL has got better floor skills, tough 1 to call.

Steven - Osman - Tricky Trev had the lot, skill, a little pace and could find Sharpys head from 90 yards. Osman isnt a winger, but does a decent job out there.

Sheedy - Pienaar - Sheedy was so slow it was unreal, he would glide down the wing, but he hadly lost the ball and his passing was a joy, Stevie has pace to burn and is really showing what hes made of.

Reid - Cahill - Reidy was the complete Midfielder, he could pass, tackle and run with the ball, Cahill is a different player and brings different things, like goals, heading and hold up play.

Bracewell - Arteta - Mikel is fast making the CM place his own and is starting to shine in his "new" role, his passing is a joy and his link up play 2nd to none, Bracewell was very good at ball retention and tackling.

Dixie - Yakubu - Sorry Yak, no contest.

Saha - Sharp - Sharp was 1 of the best no.9s we have had and we had a few gems, Saha need to retain fitness, then show us what he can do.

That ok for you Bainy mate? I can only judge the players i have seen, clearly i never saw Dixie play, but the mans record speaks for itself.

Mikel if we are talking left back it has to be Ramon Wilson the best fullback I have ever seen.Don'T think you can compare Reidy with Tim both completely different players great in their own style.I think I would put Arteta in for Bracewell.but what about Alex Young,Roy Vernon,Brian Labone,Bobby Collins to name just a few if we are talking Legends oops forgot Latchford,Dobson better stop I'm getting boring:lol:

I can only go off what ive seen Roy, clearly the names you mentioned and the players you have been lucky enough to see are Everton greats. If i could hack into your Everton memories im sure it would be a joy to behold.
