Used to happen a few times with FA cup games as mentioned, warzone on Scotty Road earned a mention also big scraps within Lime Street I'm sure I remember Millwall and Man City were the visitors to both grounds on the same day, what were they thinking? feeding the hooligans they were..

Everton v Stoke and RS v Palace, FA Cup 1977. Loads of trouble after. I was talking to a lad from Stoke a couple of years ago, he said is was manic, Blues and Reds teaming up together against the Stoke and the Palace fans. Those were the days eh.

Remember when we played arsenal and they played altringham?
Two massive groups of scallies Everton Everton Everton

Remember it well. Crowd of Millwall came on the Street End and walked right into the middle. Bad things happened to them thereafter. To quote one of 'Walls firm from the next days NOTW 'everything just opened up around us then l saw one geezer pull out a butcher's cleaver. The next thing l knew was being pushed over the wall onto the pitch'. (Recollect something like 9 Millwall were either stabbed or cut in that incident and then a couple more after the game at Lime Street along with a couple of City fans when Everton broke through the corden and got onto the platform). Those days were not for the faint hearted...sad as it now seems.

3rd round in 1981 that, we had over 34000 against Arsenal, the RS had over 37k against Altrincham but I assume Altrincham would have taken far more to Anfield than Arsenal did to us , with them being non league visiting a then all conquering RS side.

Just two off the top of my head 1953 Everton beat Man.Unt 2-1 in the FA cup, over 76,000 watched this game while at Anfield Liverpool were playing WBA in a league game.

In the sixties, could have been 19666 Everton were beating Sunderland 3-0 in the FA cup while Liverpool kicked off a bit later and were kicked out of the cup by Chelsea, 2-1 I think.

By the way there was over 28,000 watching the Liverpool versus WBA game.

Remember Arsenal had a massive support
Had a fan that looked like Ian Gillan (the singer) who stood out like a sore thumb
Seen him walking down city road with scallies trying to jump him , he literary shook them off.

If we move to the docks will this still happen?

The distance between us will have increased but we will still use the same transport so I'm assuming no.

No, because the difference with the support now, especially the RS, is thousands come from outside the City flooding the town centre, whereas years ago the majority was local and even walking distance for many.

Yes it was 1966. The RS did kick off later, I think it was half an hour. After seeing us win 3-0, I headed off with a load of Blues across the park and watched the last few minutes of Chelsea's win. Happy days...

They never got near the middle. Most were got in the concourse just after the turnstiles in the far corner of the St.end /Bullens area. Very early before 2 o'clock.

The highlights are on YouTube, got to say the lower terraces look packed so reckon there might have been more than the 34,000. Remember my grandad saying years ago Everton were fiddling the attendances so maybe the same thing happened here
