Has the transfer window cost us?

Oh yes, so by that measure every failure by the team to generate a positive result needs to result in some form of strengthening in any particular transfer window. There's no need for tactics, just money.

Ok you are right mate, we had a blinding transfer window. Infact i think the Barnsley right back has given us a bigger lift than the arrivals of Jelavic, Pienaar, Gibson and Donavan did last January. Pretty sure we will kick on and secure 4th now.

That better for you?

Oh so you're one of those obtuse posters where everything is the fault of the board and that's all there is to it? No I am far from happy with the lack of additions, but that's not all there is to football. I look at Southampton's recent results. I am pretty sure their squad is inferior to ours all over the park, probably didn't add anyone of note, yet they gave Man U a good game and just beat Man City.

Oh - Bill out. It's the board's fault.

They added a new manager like, that means players are playing to earn/keep their position in the new regime.

No, it cant be Bill or the board's fault. They've always gone out and got investment to back the manager to bring in the players he wants. Of course it cant be their fault.

I guess i need to spell it out for some of you. I agree that Bill and the board have not provided adequate investment for the squad. However to lay our ****e performances completely on their doorstep doesn't tell the full story.

That's obviously quite a difficult concept to grasp for some.

Much better ta. Good example too, choosing a team with the hugely added impetus and fresh ideas a new manager brings. Maybe we could have done with a few new faces to provide such a lift.

Nobody is doing that. The question is 'has the transfer window cost us'? The answer is yes. Bizarre of you to disagree

I disagree because it's not the only thing that has cost us. We left a heap of points on the table in the early part of the season. 6 additional points from the Newcastle, Fulham, and Norwich games. Counting the 3 because we never should have lost to Reading. Possibly another 2 from the draw against QPR when they were ****e. So that's perhaps another 11 points we could have had and we would be in a much better position now.

Sure it's all supposition but so is thinking that some fresh faces would magically give us more points now. And no - i am not disagreeing that new faces would have done us the world of good.

But that's unreal as an expectation. The team were exceptional up to Christmas and the window opening. They were in pole position amiongst the chasers to make an assault on top four. There can be no serious finger-pointing at under achievement on the pitch. The window was there as an opportunity to get a much needed forward in (minimum) in order to sustain the challenge. It's THE most important factor in our recent dropping off the pace

YES IT HAS.

That sums it all up.

We have the best chance we will ever have of qualifying for a CL place and we fail to strengthen. Moyes always talks about how bringing in new faces gives the players a needed boost too. To cap things, the way the Fer deal was handled was embaressing to add insult to injury.

That was the problem to splash out installments upt 8.5 million on a player who had water on his knee after a recent operation was too much too gamble with our megre transfer budget!
