2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Have you been watching him, he is anything but a player that hasn't got creativity, his movement forward with the ball is brilliant.

I'm actually going to stop cos many posters have already seen this and I don't want to keep saying the same things, again and again.

Just give him a watch, and than see if you feel the same with his gameplay.
How many assists has he got for Preston?

Just watch him and watch how Preston play, total wing play. He gets ingnored on so many parts of their approach when he's in a perfect spot.

Some people see this
Some don't.
So you’re assuming he’s a good player based on what he might do with the ball if people actually passed to him?

Just look at palace for instance, and a few players everyone including you rate very highly

Wharton - Championship
Eze - Championship
Olise- Championship

That's just one club..

We all agree on the pressure, but he looks and sounds like a lad that could take that on his shoulders.
Totally! This is what I mean though - we're looking back on those players from now, when they've become extremely good top flight players. All of them took a season or two to adjust, and for Eze and Olise it's a very different prospect making the jump at that age compared to a CM like Wharton and Armstrong.

Wharton was a much more impactful player in his age 18 season in the Championship than Armstrong is now. Again, that doesn't mean Armstrong isn't very good! He is! And we'll see how he's improved by the end of the season too. He just still has a bunch of developing to do. That isn't putting him down in any way. Even top class CMs are almost never top class til theyre ~21 at least. That's still 3 years away - he might develop faster than that or slower than that. You can't really predict it though. But he is on the right path and doing the right things. People just need to not be disappointed if he comes back next year and starts less than half of our league games, for example.

So when you said comparing HA and Tim at 18 HA is on a different planet that was complete BS as I suspected.

I know it’s a totally different level, but when he was 17 he got a hat trick and 3 assists as our under 19, beat Forest 7-0 or 7-1. Could has had 4 assists v Mansfield in the cup 2 months ago. Ended up with 2. To say he’s not creative is a nonsense

He's currently in the bottom 8% of midfielders in the Championship for key passes this season (adjusted for minutes played).

This is the sort of thing I mean about how it'll take a while for him to reach the level he almost certainly can. He looks great, he probably will be great, but he is YOUNG and it will take a year or so.

Yes they basically cross the ball at every opportunity and not very good most of the time. Thierry small time and time again ignored him and Devine making good runs beyond him, that was one of the reasons they lost v Birmingham. Small Was dropped v Sheffield Utd. The fact Armstrong stayed on the whole game and was his3rd full game in 6 days speaks volumes

Like I’ve said Preston play wing backs, have some massive centre forwards, the game plan is go wide and cross into the box. Armstrong and others got constantly ignored after playing a good pass or making good movement.
Even Preston fans will tell you, him, Devine and Dobbin are on a different leave to the rest of their team

I'd say that Harrison is the future of our midfield and he is but that is to underplay his current ability.
I think he's ready to play PL football right now.
I think he will turn out to be the best midfielder that we've seen since Alan Ball.
Hype? Maybe but I don't think so.
This young man has got everything you'd want in a modern midfielder , I just hope that Moyes recognises that and makes him central to everything that we do.
More of a HK or CH midfielder which will do ux no end of good !

Oh boy. Anyway, this is exactly why HA was sent on loan, to get experience, improve his game, and work on consistency. He was nowhere ready to play in the PL and thats more than fine. Seems his play in the championship just further reinforces that his strength is holding the ball and cover, essentially the DM role. Where he struggles is anything forward or progressive, outside of some long passes from the DM role. Thats pretty much exactly what we saw in preseason. Either he learns to add more forward play and creativity to his game, and takes more chances going forward, or I do think his long term role will be as a DM sitting in front of the CBs.
He can play both roles ...
