The limited player tag with Sigurdsson is unfair. Spurs fans still love him and do not remember him as just a dead-ball specialist. Put him in a team with better players he will have more options and can reasonably be expected to perform better in open play whilst still being ace at set pieces and working his bollocks off to press and track back.
The fee won't be £50m but nobody can blame Swansea for trying. We're doing the same with Ross who is younger but who also has only one year left on his contract. More TV money always brings higher fees and higher wages. Ultimately if Koeman really wants him, and he does, I'd hate the Board to miss out on him over price. We'll pay near £40m with add-ons so Swans can claim mid 40s I expect.
Some will fume, others will shrug. It just feels worse because the deal will be after not before selling Rom so it feels more like half of that fee reinvested.
