It will take a number of months for the fall out from last Sundays performance to become obvious as it is unlikely that any club will jump in with a too good to be believed bid for any of our players. It will take time for Carlo/Brands tp move out those that are not wanted and bring in new players.
I would guess that Brands is less than delighted to find another batch of fresh names on his list of players to be punted out of the club.
In the meantime the manager has to face these multi millionaires today and work with them even though he can hardly be thrilled with the idea. I would guess that very few of the players involved will come in and give a totally honest assessment of their performance and their performance in the season to date.
Their will be an initial admission they didn't play well but then there will be a host of excuses and reasons why it went wrong. Not scoring in the first half when the chances were there was given as an excuse, even by CA, and I might accept that against a full strength team but not a bunch of schoolboys.
A friend sent me a picture of the Liverpool players in the bath after the game on Sunday, it was a picture of babies being bathed by their mother. He thought it was funny, I didn't.
But, it should be shown to our players because they may then realise how their performances affect the fans of the club. It might help them realise that their lack of backbone does affect those who pay good money to watch them every week.

Ashley gives the managers just enough to keep the team in the league every year - not to spend on luxury players.
He is 100% not a Moyes player and also they have a lot of their own dross to get rid of, without adding to it .

Unfortunately I can’t see this being the case. West Ham have enough average attacking midfielders as it is, and Newcastle will have zero funds to spend until they can recoup whatever possible from the £40m purchase of the abysmal Joelinton.

yes but what they don’t have is a midfielder with a proven track record of scoring goals in the premier league. Of course he’s not doing it for us this season, but he is capable and for 15m if he scored half a dozen goals that’s justified fir helping keep them in the PL.
As people will know, I have been behind him in the main.
I have nothing to offer in his defence this season. He's been crap.
He's proved what many and me have said all along though. He isn't a player who can grab games by a scruff of the neck and be a playmaker. The fact we signed him initially to do that is mental.
I fully understand that many people want him to do that and he should be offering more. 100%.However, we saw the best of Gylfi last season with Gana behind him and being his legs, Gomes in there to get the ball into him and dictate from deep.
We've taken away the key parts and left us with crap. I include Gylfi in that crap, btw.
He did two things on Sunday - the pass through to Walcott for our first chance and then the free-kick for Holgate's header. Similar to in a way his pass for Coleman the other day v City.
Always said if you get him in the positions he'll make stuff happen. But, we clearly aren't good enough to have a player like that in there because, frankly, the ones around him are also equally as incapable of doing everything themselves.
We basically have a midfield atm who all look to pass the buck, apart from Davies, who unfortunately simply is far too clumsy at times.
Our best midfielder is probably Holgate, which says a lot.

They’d be very naive to buy a player based on numbers on a spreadsheet, as we found out at a very expensive cost.

To be honest, losing Gana isn't anywhere near as big a problem for us as not losing Sigurdsson is.
I said plenty of times last year that any combination that included Gana and Sigurdsson would never be a foundation for any half decent team. Turns out it was the Sigurdsson bit which was most detrimental.
Losing Gana has been an absolutely huge problem for us this season. Massive.
Gana pushed us 10/15 yards up the pitch. Think how many times Sigurdsson pressed and won the ball back high upfield last season - because he was just able to do his little 10-yard shuttle runs.
He's been utterly tosh. I'm not attempting to make excuses. But it needs pointing out it's all just a mire of crap decisions upon crap decisions.
