Its hard to say at this point, Silva will be making do till he gets in the players he wants, ideally he will want this :

The problem I see is that we simply dont have the players to fit that system, certainly not in midfield, Gana is a good DM, but hes a chaser, not a sitter, Morgan is a good DM, when motivated, but hes a sitter and doesnt chase, thus Silva is forced to play them both. ideally he has a player who can sit, but with a good passing range and of course 2 number 8s in midfield. So that leaves us with the 4-2-3-1 that we will probably mostly play.

When Gomes is fit I will be interested to see if he gives the 4-3-3 a go, but suspect it will be Gana or Morgan playing the 6 with Iceland and Gomes as the 8.

Bernard will be our playmaker, on the wing, him or Rico will need to adapt to Right Wing tho.

Silva will turn Iceland into a number 8.

There is no number 10 in Silvas preferred 4-3-3.

He doesn’t make the difference in the final third when he does get it though. He’s got nowhere near the talent of a player like Ozil to be able to get away with the “luxury player” excuse.

The point was that he doesn't get involved enough and the no touches in 10 mins was supposedly the proof.

I wouldn’t be arsed how many times Sigurdsson touched the ball if he’d shown himself capable of winning a game single handedly with a moment of magic despite not being involved for large parts. But he hasn’t.

We could have a decent midfield with all three players complimenting the others weaknesses with their own strengths. Would definitely have to be Gueye over Schneiderlin for me though.

Unfortunately (for him), Gylfi's price tag will always be brought up when evaluating his performance. I like the player and think he's got a role to play but understand the criticism he faces. I think he needs to raise his level of play and he's got the talent/work ethic to do so, still expecting a good season out of him.

If were looking at the BEST setup then you need a Busquets as a single DM. Someone whose positioning is very good, can tackle, pass and basically is a very good all rounder.

We dont have that type of player...an older player would have been Nzonzi (Roma) and younger Torreira (Arsenal) or Neves (Wolves). All have different skillsets but fit the criteria we would require. Perhaps Baningime may blossom...

Next we would need 2 CMs. We have Gomes, Sigurdsson and Davies...none of whom are the ideal player for the system.


Alternatively,if we went with 2 DMs then the RS with Alonso, Gerrard and Mascherano is a decent template to follow. Gana fits quite nicely next to a playmaker...is that Gylif or Gomes? In a more advanced position we dont have anyone...


So i think the next stage of rebuilding will be a total overhaul of our centre midfield. Gana, Baningime and possibly Davies to survive, no one else will be here in 12 months time...

That's all fair enough mate but we can only talk about what we have currently until the next transfer window and I think Sig, Gomes and Gueye will compliment each other in midfield and could be quite a good trio. Let's face it our midfield has been poor for a while but I think those 3 together could make us look a lot better in the middle of the park for this season at least.

Im more concerned about the DM position.

Baningime looked very good to me but of course no remit to ping the ball around or play an attacking game...so will be keen to see how he gets on.

My wildcard for the DM role...Gana is also decent but hasnt got the passing range.
