Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

Yes but that's the nature of contracts. Terms will be agreed on a second year and just conditional on him giving the green light. Different from a simple 1 year deal surely.

Simply put 1+1 deal can equal 2 but the distinction is that it could just be 1 - not complicated

They just don't press with the same intensity. They used to have long spells, sometimes even entire games where they just didn't let teams forward as they tore them apart. Now they don't do that as teams just cruise forward on counters, and without Silva and Aguero the attack is worse. They really are at risk of missing the CL here.

We have no Plan-B or alternative tactics. Yesterday he had Foden on the bench and started with Marhez?
in fact we had Foden, Sterling & Aguero on the bench and he didn’t make any changes until the 70th minute after we went 2-0 down and complains he wants 5 subs! Pep tries to be a tactical genius, however in reality he is highly predictable. You are bang on when you say the CL spot is now at serious risk.

I've seen Foden touted a couple places as some sort of obvious replacement for Mahrez who clearly doesn't fit the team. And while I rate Foden as a prospect the fact that he's scene as a savoir right now to me speaks volumes about just how much trouble City are in.

re the 5 subs, I think one of the points Klopp was trying to make last night & it applies to Guardiola as well, is managers are "banking" their subs for fear of injury rather than being brave with tactics.

Foden is the natural and obvious replacement for David Silva - he really is that good.
Me and virtually every other City fan going are completely lost why Pep persists with Mahrez?
I just can't fathom it out.

Because Pep would much rather megabrain it like the tortured genius he is and act all smug in a presser, allowing Liverpool to walk the league again.

Mahrez isn't playing where Silva did so I don't quite get that part of it.

Foden is good, but City have not looked as potent without Silva to this point. Sane got hurt around the same time and that lack of pace also doesn't help.

Very strange defence (lack of) and links to Messi seem bizarre to me.

He seems to want to be a contrarian for no reason at all.

I think youre missing Delph...want him back lol

We miss Sane more than we can imagine. He was pure danger. Because of his sheer pace defenders were absolutely terrified of him.
Foden is the direct replacement for Silva but Pep won't play him in that role for some totally unknown reason. Infact he hasn't started
a few of the last PL games at all. No doubt he will start him on Wednesday. Mahrez is just a waste of a player on the teamsheet.
Why not play Sterling & Torres on the wings who both have pace to burn? It's a mystery what he's up to lately that is for sure.

The drop off of Bernardo Silva is huge.

He was very close be being one of the best players in the league but now looks completely out of depth.

hard to put your finger on but a weird dynamic with him and KDB, he looks like a lost puppy when he DB on the pitch, but when he was missing against Arsenal, he was class

Think Pep has signed a new deal to coincide with Messi signing a short term deal. Probably end their contracts at the same time

Do think that City's pressing has dropped off and their play has become a bit more predictable and that CM duo of Rodri/Gundogan lacks pace, mobility and strength. They have lost that fear factor

Maybe thats just due to missing the brilliance of Silva and the pace/width of Sane. They dont seem to be able to mix it up as much as they used to. Mahrez looks out of his depth, Bernardo's form has dropped right off, as has Sterlings slightly. Walker is an absolute shocking player who is now starting to look worse than ever and obviously missing Aguero is massive.

one of their biggest challenges is the automatic yellow for the tactical foul, if you go back to the spurs and then wolves matches last year they both exposed a weakness which was previously solved by Fernandinho (or others) with the tactical foul in MF. That wolves match was key, a template for others, when traore scored a second on the break, city have lost at least 10 games since in a very very similar vein
